Lucas: Indy V Is Possible

George Lucas told Fox News that it's more than a strong possibility there will be a fifth Indiana Jones movie.

Speaking in Cannes, where Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull premiered over the weekend, Lucas told the news service that he and director Steven Spielberg have left the door open for another sequel. Lucas was a guest May 15 at Paramount/DreamWorks' party for Kung Fu Panda at the 61st Cannes Film Festival.

"I haven't even told Steven or [star] Harrison [Ford] this," Lucas said. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison come back, like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out."

I'm not sure how I feel about that one. I don't think it would be as easy to do this as it was with the James Bond character.

I saw Indy 4 last night, and I loved it, don't get me wrong. But I think that too many movies will kill it, as will making an Indiana film where Harrison Ford is not the lead character.

Like I said before, it should be called Indiana Jones and the Quest for More Money. Because clearly that's what this is. Nothing against Shia LeBeouf, but...come on. This just screams "BAD IDEA". Of course, George Lucas hasn't had a good idea since probably 1981, so...

WHAT? This is something that definitely should not happen. Why is Hollywood so bent on trying to feed off of old classics? The classics should be left alone..they are awesome just like they are.
That said, I haven't seen Indiana Jones 4 yet, but it's probably good because Harrison Ford is the main character. Shia should not be. Not for Indiana Jones.

Yeah, I'm not sure about a number 5. I just saw Crystal Skull and well...I don't mind stretching the believability of action scenes a little, but most were ridiculously over the top in my opinion. I was actually quite disappointed.

The only action scene I was really disappointed with was

Still, it wasn't enough to ruin it for me. XD I actually really enjoyed it a lot, and would see it again. XD

Here's my list.
[spoiler]Surviving a rocket sled ride. Surviving a nuclear blast in a fridge. The Tarzan thing + attack monkeys. The swordfight + dangling between two cars. Surviving three massive waterfalls. The overly voracious ants. And of course, the aliens.[/spoiler]
I could have handled them throwing in two or three of these things, but all of them together were just too much for me to swallow. Maybe I'm just overly picky. I'm glad you enjoyed it at least.

Ya know, according to what I've been reading at IMDB, Lucas and Spielburg had planned for the series to be 5 movies. So it would only be fulfilling the original objective to make one more.

I looooooooooooooooved Indy 4. Right now, after watching Indy 4, I am so amped up for an Indy 5.

Also, Tom, I must respectfully disagree. Transformers was great and he was great in it, he was fantastic in Indy 4, and I think Shia LeBeauf has the potential to be the next great action/thriller star.

I agree with Radical Dreamer about the only part I found irritating but come on, it was like 45 seconds long out of a two hour and some-odd minute movie.

Indy 4 basically had all of the stuff I love about a good summer action flick PLUS Harrison Ford. It couldn't get much better. I did not anticipate enjoying it as much as I did. The only reason I went was because a friend owed me a ticket after I paid for him to see Iron Man. I want to see this movie again today. I just might.

I dunno, I liked his character and the way it was acted in the film. Personally, now that he's out of Disney's hands, I think he's going to become a pretty good actor. I saw a preview for a new action/thriller with him in it that didn't look too bad while I was at Indy 4, so I think it's just a matter of time.

Shia LeBeauf acting was fine in Transformers, but it was Michael Bay turn that into a bad movie.

The only problem that I have about anymore Indiana Jones movies is Lucas.

He has drag one of my childhood movies into the ground, I don't want to see another one get drag in the ground for the quest of money.

When you add the prequel trilogy with the older trilogy and what Lucas added on to the trilogy dvds, then yes. He kept changing them over and over untill he mess them up.

When the Jawa Sandcrawler stops outside the Lars Homestead, C-3PO says "We've stopped" before telling R2-D2 to wake up.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's scream to scare off the Sand People has been changed to a higher-pitched wail.

The 'Han vs Greedo' scene is redone again]) A few lines of new dialogue have been added to this scene as well, in which Palpatine informs Vader that their new enemy is the 'offspring' of Anakin Skywalker. McDiarmid actually filmed this scene during principal photography of Episode III.

The tracked scream of Luke Skywalker introduced in the 1997 re-release, which is heard during Luke's voluntary fall from the Cloud City platform after his duel with Vader, was removed.[/spoiler]

That's still not all the changes listed for those movie.

I think Hayden Christensen as Anakin's Force ghost irritates me the most. Srsly. First, he sucks. Period. Second, it doesn't make sense. Did they swap in Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan? No. No they didn't. The ghost represents the Jedi as they were (age-wise) when they died. Ergo, young Anakin is a plothole.

Those are interesting facts, but they don't change anything drastically important.
They're just all tiny little changes that don't add or subtract from the overall enjoyment of the film.

Not to mention the enormous plothole of the fact that New Hope takes place 19 years or so after Revenge of the Sith, yet Grand Moff Tarkin refers to the Jedi as an "ancient religion." Also let's not forget that in Empire, Obi-Wan tells Luke that Yoda is the Jedi that trained him; whereas in Episode I, it's Qui-Gonn. Those DO change things that are drastically important, and are you trying to say that Greedo shooting first DOESN'T subtract from the enjoyment of the film? You're out of your gourd if you do, because that scene not only defines Han's character, but why would Jabba hire a bounty hunter that can't hit a stationary target from TWO FEET AWAY? It's stupid and ridiculous, and makes zero sense.

Ugh, agreed. That was probably the worst change they made, and the only one that really bothered me. If they wanted to have Christensen in the role, at LEAST give him some makeup to look older. Regardless, the other guy was fine in the role; there was definitely no need to change it.
