GBA Final Fantasy games?

Postby Angel Tifa » Sun Mar 30, 2008 11:38 pm

Gosh it's been quite some time since all the good ol' classic Final Fantasies have been released on the Game Boy Advance . Of course also including the DS Final Fantasy III.

I was wonderig what your opinions are on these games? Did you enjoy them? Would you say they're some of your favorite games?

For me since I never had the money to keep up with the times when I was much younger because it was either I could get a Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis and I chose to get Sega instead because the Sonic the Hedgehog video games really caught my eye and still a fan today. Therefore I missed out on all the SNES Final Fantasy I, IV, and VI and they were never made again.

So having them all re-released on the GBA was a real treat for me. I remember the first one I bought was Final Fantasy I and II Dawn of Souls (of course which both Final Fantasy I and II). I played both the games all the way through and I can easily say that it was worth every penny. Two thumbs way up for this one :thumb::thumbsup:. I'm also currently playing the Final Fantasy V on the GBA and am enjoying it.

No I still have yet to own the FF IV and VI on the GBA, but I wouldn't be surprised if I found enjoyment in them. I did at least play those on the Playstation so I at least have a taste of what they'd be like .

So anyway what do you guys think of the Game Boy Advance Final Fantasies? Are you looking forward to FFIV on DS?

I have and played FFIII DS. It was.... eh. I mean, you can only do so much to "improve" upon an old game and trying to add characterization to characters that weren't supposed to be there in the first place kind falls flat on its face.

I did like the Job system though, and I being a product of the nineties (or rather, mid eighties) didn't mind all the grinding.

(BTW I also missed out on FF I, IV and VI because I too was a Sega fanatic. But then again, we had Phantasy Star, lol).

Yeah I too am a product on the 80's, but early 80's instead mind you :P. Yeah I agree with you on the updating so much point. I still stand that I like the re-releases, but when they remake things (movies, games, books, etc.) I also hate it when they leave and cut out the old stuff :(. If that continues, gamers of the future won't even have a taste of what the original stuff is. I was having the same fears after playing Resident Evil Remake and thinking "why is everything so different?".

Unfortunetely though since the originals of II, III, and V were never released in the US (well the SNES ones anyway), all we have is the DS of III, PS of II, and V, and the GBA of V and II. But that's still better than not releasing them at all no? I think so ;). So unless I can read Japanese, I'll never know what the original Final Fantasy III will be like. So that's why I'm very happy with all these releases for those of us who could not experience the old versions.

Well, I own III for my DS. Its been pretty fun, but I haven't finished it and probably won't anytime soon. I'm at the very end of the game, but I can't beat the final boss, despite the level grinding I've been doing.

But anyway, its pretty neat, but I definitely prefer some of the other ones. (Final Fantasy X being my favorite)

Having two healers helps (either two Devouts or a Devout and a Sage).

Maybe I'll pop it in and try one of these days. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah I also own FFIII for the DS, but haven't even opened it yet (recently bought it) because I'm still got a few games left that I'm behind on. So right now I'm playing Final Fantasy V Advance. The story line is kinda dull, but the job system is at least fun. My friend Sharon says she really likes FFIII a lot.

The story in FFIII is probably worse. Its a very typical, very dull "the crystals will help us defeat the enemy!" story. As you said, though, its a lot of fun to play.

Aww man :/. lol

Ah well. At least the plot does start to thicken in Final Fantasy V when you go to the second world. When the time comes to play my FFIII, I'll know exactly what you're talking about I'm sure ;).

FFVI is my favorite RPG ever. The music, characters, and storyline are downright amazing.

It's awesome, go buy it. :D FFIV is also amazing as well. LD

Yeah I have both of those for the playstation ;). THe music in both VI and IV are excellent and very relaxing  :jump:.

So when I have the money or when it's in my budget, for sure I'll buy them on GBA ;).
