OK, a while back I posted a thread about Vash the Stampede (from Trigun) going up against Rushuna Tendou (Grenadier), and asked who would win. It got hijaked, and I hope that doesn't happen with this thread, but we'll see.

Now, gotta set the ambiance:

Aside from cosmetic differences, Vash and Train are pretty much identical. Happy-go-lucky, dark pasts, prefer break-open revolvers, always seem ready to eat, ridiculously skilled with firearms to the point of manipulating bullets already in flight, refuse to kill, etc. Train is armed with "Hades", his custom, nigh-indestructible revolver which he also uses as a melee weapon, in addition to trick bullets and grenades invented by his partner, Sven Vollfied (who, I feel obligated to say, is the man and always will be). Vash is armed with his mysterious custom-made "Angel Arms" .45 Long Colt (a real revolver cartridge, by the way, although it is often officially called .45 Colt), which, under extreme conditions, transforms into a ridiculous, city-leveling arm cannon (however, Vash does not tend to use this feature intentionally), bolstered by a submachine gun built into his prosthetic left arm.

With our competitors introduced, what would be the outcome? Well, we first have to assume that both characters actually have committed to fight each other. Assuming that, and assuming no outside interference (although a Sven vs. Wolfwood fight would be interesting) . . .

I'd say that Train tends to have the larger bag of tricks up his sleeve, but Vash has vastly more experience. I'll give Vash the win, because experience typically wins every time. I do think it would be a knock-down drag-out fight, seeing as how Train can shoot into another gun's barrel and all that. He's no slouch at gunplay, but he just hasn't been at it as long as Vash has.

However, I will maintain that the original master of the sixgun, Daisuke Jigen, will cooly walk up and shoot them both when they are tired and low on ammo. Oh yes.
