Eye Of Judgement: Awesome Concept? Or Yu-Gi-Oh! rip off?

I've been contemplating buying this game since it's release date but after reading through alot of hit and miss reviews on this game I find myself going into a Game Stop picking up the super smooth plastic case that holds cards, game, and camera and than putting it back down.

My first impression when I heard about this game was: "That is pretty darn cool! ...but alittle Yu-Gi-Oh-ish" but anyway...

I was wondering if anyone here has played this title? If so, what they thought? Even if you have not played this game what is your impression of it?

It's not that similar to Yugioh, actually. It's actually a bit more similar to Final Fantasy VIII's card game, in a lot of ways.

Basically you have nine squares. The objective of the game is to occupy five squares with your cards. Once you have five of your cards on the board, you win. The squares also have elemental properties that strengthen monsters of the same elemental affinity, and weaken monsters of opposing elements. There are also conditions which cause the game board to completely change its elemental properties.

So yeah, aside from the fact that there are monsters, really not like Yugioh at all. :p

Have you played the game at all? Do you like it?

I did research alittle bit on how the game works. The only thing that concerns me is if it will become repetitive or a "I played it once and now I am so over it!" kind of like Guitar Hero for me..-watches as her mini guitars collect dust- Plus, another aspect is the cards. I suppose one has to keep updating their decks which becomes expensive and tiring.

Do you think it's more of a game for the casual gamer? Or hard core?

Oh, I wish someone would sell me on this game. I think that it's cool the whole card reader aspect and the little camera but then again in reviews even the camera has glitches but it still looks so cool! ... >___<;;
