Nadia: Secret of Blue Water

Postby KhakiBlueSocks » Thu Dec 20, 2007 7:55 pm

Okay, I rarely, if ever, make threads like this, but it has to be done...

THIS ANIME ROCKS MY FREAKING SOCKS!! I got the box set in last week, and I've been watching it almost every day every since! It's the perfect balance of comedy, action, drama, and romance! It's created by Hideaki Anno, the same guy who came up with the ever-popular Evangelion and then turned back around and directed (for the most part) His and Her Circumstances.

Has anyone else seen this masterpiece?

I've seen it. I'm glad you enjoy it.

I'm not sure that I consider it a masterpiece, but I did certainly enjoy it.

Purchased all the single volumes way back in the day. Then turned around and double dipped and got the tin last month when it came out as it was at a ridiculously low price. It is indeed one of the best titles put out by Gainex along with Petite Princess Yucie.

I reeeeeally want the tin! I saw Nadia on TAN and it was on par with Evangelion and FLCL as the best Gainax anime.

The only main difference between the tin collection and the original release DVD's is...well...the freakin' tin box, which I promptly threw in a cabinet somewhere. Kinda makes you wish that ADV would've added a few more extras into the mix as they did with Evangelion.

Well, back when they released the series as a pair of box sets, the included soundtracks and the movie. I think the tin just has the series.

...and I NEED that tin! I only got around to buying the first half of the series and I NEED to finally see the rest!!!!!!!!!

Confirmed--the tin box set has just the series in thin-pack form. Would've been nice if they included the movie, but ah well.

So you stopped at volume 5? Bummer dude... there are a FEW filler episodes mixed in to volumes 6 and 7, but it's mostly character development, so it's cool.

The ending is suprising, yet clear and complete. However, without giving TOO much away, I have to say that what happens to Marie counted as a definate "Nani?!" moment.

Well, you don't have to worry too much. All the video extras that was put in the EVA tin collection were copied from the Evangelion Platinum set.

So, people are just getting it for the tin box, which I feel is not the best box set done for that title anyway.

Yeah. I get what you're saying. For such a "gentle" anime, a cold tin box doesn't really do it justice. Not to mention that the lid on my tin box fell off not 48 hours after I got it. :P

I also question the need for making another Eva box set when, not too long ago, they released a platinum box set stuffed with extras AND a Thin-pack box set minus extras.

From my understand about the tin set is. These tin collection sets were release in the UK. I guess they had a few left over and they went a head and release a set of them with the tins for the US.

Also, I think ADV was trying to make up for the postponed EVA 10th Anniversary Set. Some people first thought that the tin collection set was the 10th Anniversary set, but it wasn't. The EVA 10th Anniversary set was to be release in Aug 22, 2006.

I'm watching Nadia at the moment. I'm loving the anime so far. It's like Future Boy Conan, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Steamboy and Disney's Atlanis, all in one. The mythology angle is very interesting too (they totally haven't read the Bible though - lol).

I've been told to watch episodes 1-21 and then 35-39 (skipping the crappy, bad quality filler episodes). Is that correct or do I watch episode 22 as well?

Any help would be great.
Thanks!
