Personally I think Web 1.0 was the original hypertext system in academia from whence this whole thing sprang, Web 2.0 was the early Mosaic-based stuff I first encountered in the mid-90s when I heard there was something out there less irritating to use than Gopher and Usenet, Web 3.0 was the thing that first spread to the greater public on the wings of Netscape, and we are currently somewhere in the range of 7.0 or 8.0.
