Animes you "outgrew"?

I think the only one is really Inuyasha. I got into it before many in North America knew what it was. It was AWSOME and it was NEW. I got SO into it. After watching the series and thinking '...' and the overload of fans that would not stop talking about it, got old for me... Same kinda happened to Naruto. Just sort of stopped watching/reading it... just kept going, fanbase was too big to escape from, and it didn't do anything for me anymore :/ Only fun when it was the brand new thing.

Think those are the only 2, really.

OH yeah, I know how you feel. I'm not really the kind of person who gets into less popular things just to be niche, but fandom popularity and Americanization has ruined a lot for me. Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, Prince of Tennis, Detective Conan, anything by Tanemura Arina....

I used to watch Ranma 1/2 alot when I was in high school. I think I might have seen most of the episodes (but not in order, a shame).

Whilst it was an interesting story with an enjoyable cast of characters, eventually episodes felt like "more of the same".

But that's not to say I didn't have good memories from this series.

Man, I watched Tenchi when I was 11. Now whats an eleven year old watching a somewhat suggestive anime you ask? Really I didn't understand all the things that went down, and now when I watch it I am like "why was I watching this show at such a young age?" Its just very odd, I didn't even know that anime was the term for those shows. I just watched it because it was funny and interesting.

Haha, yeah, ditto. I remember watching it on Toonami back when i was 10 and 11, and even the edited toonami version had its fair share of off-color humor. I remember being drawn to it because i thought the spaceships and epic battles were cool(any harems out today with spaceships and epic battles?! I think not) then i came to appreciat that it had no shortage of fair maidens. Kiyone and Mihoshi being my two favorite.

I would have to say Volton, Sailor Moon, and Poke'mon. I remember when I was like...4 and 5, and I thought Volton was the most amazing thing in the world. And then it when off the air and I loved Sailor Moon til age 8, then Poke'mon. But like...I randomly watched an episode of Voltron on OnDemand and was like "Are you serious? How the heck did I ever like this stuff? I hven't seen something this bad in...forever man"

Cuz like, you know when you don't watch an anime in a while and you forget about what it's about and just remember the name? Well that's what happened with me and Voltron.

And I remember that Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon was my first ever anime guy crush. But I watch random episodes here and there and I just sigh and nod. Sad really.

I totally miss Poke'mon. You know, the good, adorable, FIRST version. I still think it's cute. I was such a Poke'mon nerd ages 8 to 11. Sad really. My parents spent over 2 grand getting me the original card series...

In general, I outgrew anime. With the exception of Sailor Moon TOS, S and Stars, I wish I had back all the money I spent on it.

That's not to say I'm against Japanese entertainment. I enjoy Samurai movies still, but anime... I can't think of any series I still consider a classic except for Sailor Moon.

Pokemon... That's probably it... I still watch Sailormoon for nostalgia from time to time, I'd love to watch Tenchi again, and it would be awesome if I could find Superbook in its original language, unaltered except for subtitles... So, yeah, pretty much just pokemon... Well, I guess I "outgrew" DBZ a long time ago... I only watched it in Japanese raws, though. When I got cartoon network, I realize the show sucked and only watched it when my friend became obsessed with it and had it on every day at his house... And that's how I reluctantly ended up seeing about 2/3 of the series. I can explain all sorts of things about the show, and I didn't even enjoy watching it...

I think I saw Cardcaptor Sakura come on Toonami a couple times. I had forgotten the name, and the only things I remember are about a girl with a staff and some cards. I was in 4th grade at the time a long time ago.

I just remember the good old routine when I came home from school, watch Toonami. I also remember a show called Reboot, but Im not sure if it was anime. I also remember Hamtaro, remember I was very young but I did enjoy the show. How could you resist watching an anime about cute hamsters and the adventures they had? I saw DBZ just about everyday and Pokemon on the WB. Then came along Tenchi, yep that show was really good. I think Inuyasha first debuted on Toonami in like 2002, I can't really remember though. I remember nothing else except Speed Racer. I never really got the chance to outgrow these shows because they went off air before I could.

As for me, I'm actually a little ashamed to own up to my "gateway anime" because I look back and see it as SO bad now. In fact, I recently showed some clips to my boyfriend and felt myself blushing because it was atrocious. What is this awful anime, you may be asking yourselves?

Ronin Warriors. Yorodien Samurai Troopers. And I was hardcore. I wrote fanfiction, posted it on my fansite, bought artbooks and figures....*groans*

That's probably all I can think of, because I rarely if ever re-watch shows.

You got the name right. It was Cardcaptor Sakura or CCS that you are talking about.

When it was brought over here, they drop the Sakura and it was just called Cardcaptor for the English adaptation.

CCS was frist aired on Kids' WB Saturday morning block, but it was canceled after 58 episodes. When Cartoon Network merge with Kids WB, CCS was brought over and aired on Toonami.

Reboot was a Canadian CGI-animated series.

Don't feel bad, I like Ronin Warriors, when I was a young teen and now I just slam my head into the wall for liking it.

At some point, I lost interest in InuYasha, as I found that it was unnecessarily long, and hence a bit repetitive and formulaic.

In recent years, I have been introduced to animes with faster-paced plots that have probably made it hard for me to enjoy most DBZ and InuYasha-esque series.

DBZ holds a certain nostalgia with me, and Bleach is just fast enough in its plot developments to keep me interested, but most other animes of the style of these two, Naruto, and InuYasha, just don't interest me any more.

Id have to say Sailor moon, I was so obsessed with it at one point a few years ago that i got over loving it so much.
I mean its like that song you cant get out of your head and you replay it and replay it until you never want to hear it again, thats how the whole Sailor moon thing went with me lol but i mean id still watch it from time to time i guess if the opp persented itself.
