Speaking of which, I think alternate costumes for Snake would be awesome. (Use Naked Snake's outfits from MGS 3)

Edit: To Alex. Grey Fox was the original "Cyborg Ninja" in Metal Gear Solid. (Technically he was a character since the old NES Metal Gear game, but whatever)

Basically he's a really cool character that attacks people with his sword, has a cool exoskeletal armor and helps you and all that cool jazz.

Old war buddy of Snake's, unforunately on the opposing side. Back from the dead (if anyone truly dies in MGS at all), suited up in a sense-enhancing exoskeleton, and not quite all right upstairs. Lethal proficiency with a blade, though.

I'd have given up Ike for Gray Fox as a playable character, but even having him as an Assist Trophy is freaking awesome. Also, I think I will try playing heavily as Lucas.

Well, I imagine Nintendo's only able to use characters/variations of characters that have been on Nintendo consoles. I know you're as broken up as I am that Jack/Raiden's not in Brawl, Ryan. I feel your pain, man.

That said, you made me think of an interesting [though I doubt original] concept. There are definitely a few characters that are similar enough that they could be added in as variations on the same base character. For example, you could have the "Fox" fighter, but you would have access to models for Fox, Falco, Wolf O'Donnell, and not Slippy. You could even make slight stat adjustments to each that make them unique. For Peach, you could have Peach and an honest Daisy model instead of a cheap Peach re-color. For Mario, you could have Mario and Dr. Mario as separate models, but the same moves and playstyle [you know, a lot like in Melee]. It would be, from my understanding, a more data-efficient way of keeping the "clone" characters for people who have become attached to them. As another example, for Snake, we could also have Liquid, in case you prefer long haired, topless types with British accents.

Conversely, Nintendo could bite a few bullets and give them all unique fighting styles, since I'm willing to bet that the Wii can hold all of that data. Also, if they eventually give the Wii a hard drive, which would make sense given things like the Virtual Console, that would make it even easier to have expansion packs [preferably free, or at least low-priced; I'd be tempted to offer a discount for those who have played the game X amount] with new stages, music, characters, etc.

Maybe I'm just talking nonsense, though.

Alright, I'm impressed with Dark Link. If I played with Link, I would use him a significant amount of the time (random thought: Dark Young Link?). Unfortunately, I imagine the alternate costumes for characters like Kirby or Yoshi will be mostly color swaps, so I won't get much use out of them.

Naked Snake is his code name. I haven't played the MGS series so I can't fill you in on details, but apparently he's the star of MGS3? He got the code name Naked Snake, and later went on to become Big Boss.

Just his code name. He isn't literally naked. I mean, come on. Ryan isn't gay. I'm like...80% sure.
