Video Compact Disc
About half the resolution of a dvd, comparable to an old VHS, on a regular CD. Some dvd players can play them. Even if they 'say' they support VCD, many times they still stutter. They are best played on a computer. Also, most movies can't even fit onto a single cd, so the movie must be split onto 2 cds in VCD format.
No VCD will ever be legal, because companies will never want to distribute their movies on such a crappy medium. There are no official "VCD Players" to play them on, so it's questionable if people can play them in their homes; and the resolution is bad. There is no solid market for VCDs for companies to distribute their movies; they would be taking a big money risk.
Thus, resulting in not one single LEGAL vcd. Every vcd is a COPY of a real movie, because real companies (such as Paramount, Miramax) do not put their million dollar movies on VCDs.
