Gunslinger Girl

Postby Sheenar » Thu Oct 18, 2007 5:59 am

I just wanted to know everyone's thoughts on the anime "Gunslinger Girl." My friend Autumn has it and I've watched the first 2 episodes. I like it --it's just a bit weird --using little girls as assassins. I think these girls are seriously messed up in the head --brainwashed and shooting people. I'm going to watch some more of the series tonight at Autumn's place.
Has anyone else seen this?

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Messed up in the head? If you keep watching, you will see. If you liked the first two episodes, keep watching it.

I have the complete series, but I haven't watched any of it yet. I'm slowly working my way through Noir, and I have many different dvds to watch =P. I hope to watch a few episodes soon.

Their mental states are kinda part of the shows plot.

They are alive, but whats the cost?

I love this show, own it ;)

It was a really interesting show. Yes it's the whole "chicks with guns" type of deal, but it separated itself from the rest of that "genre" in a very good way. I highly recommend it.

We watched through the 5th episode tonight. I still stand by what I said --the little girls are pretty messed up in the head. But they do have pretty good character development and are starting to give hints into things...

I read about half of the manga and thought that was pretty interesting, but I haven't gotten around to seeing the anime yet. Does it stack up well against the source material?

An excellent series overall. Yes the girls are messed up in the head, but I think that's the whole point. I'd actually be more worried about the show if they weren't.

As I recall, the ending to the series was quite the tear-jerker as well, so consider yourself warned.

Best,

It's really interesting and it's a total tearjerker. Season 2 may be the same way. I have to add GG to my collection. I like GG but I hate Noir.

Same here, in GG, the girls are used as tools and are mentally messed up; but in Noir, there is no good excuse/reason for their violence. But then again, I maybe biased due to my disapproval of firearm and violence.

They're assassins. They don't need excuses. ;)

There should be reason why one must become an assassin. Is it because of money, for food, or for security? Or is there something they want to achieve? But regardlessly, killing another human is a great sin, more so if it is because of greed.
