I think you could always just play it alone...you might have the option of selecting one or two players. You know, like the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 game, where you could play as Sonic, Tails, or Sonic with Tails following.

Wow, I haven't been keeping updated on this game, even though I know I am gonna buy it once it is out... I heard about Snake being in it, but all this other stuff is interesting haha... wow, the many hours put into the N64 version and then Melee... this is gonna be pretty awesome, and a great addition to my lacking Wii collection... which only has Prince of Persia: Rival Swords, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Rayman Raving Rabbids and Wii Play in it thus far.

Meh, I dunno. It just seems to be too much fan-service to me... I thought it would be a good idea at first, but about 2 days ago I got to thinking about it more and just realized that Sonic's days were over... I mean, if not, why has he had such crappy, CRAPPY voice-acting in recent years?

Besides, I like SSB as a Nintendo franchise... Sonic may be good, but why not Geno, Rockman, Wendy'O, or Chono?

Maybe it's just how they released it. I mean, there's still several weeks left before the game comes out; that means that there's supposed to be a lot of new updates, but this is the climax; it's gonna totally overshadow any other updates about the game. IMHO, the news just came too early; they should have saved it closer to the last minute.

I for one really don't care much for Sonic as do I for Solid Snake or Lucas. For me, personally, the inclusion of a Metal Gear Solid character (One of the best game franchises ever) as well as a Mother 3 character is big news for me. Much bigger than Sonic.

SONIC?!?!?!

Just wow. Wow. That's all I have to say. It's more of a shocked wow, really, but WOW. WOW.

Btw, I've been getting more into the SSB franchise as of late, so I'm nooby about it. XD

What I rather like about this update is that it shows alot of people's thoughts on who's gonna be in the game going down the toilet lol jk. But it does prove how unpredictable nintendo can be. I mean First with Diddy Kong and now this? Who's next Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson *crosses fingers*. CAN YOU SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING!!! (wow that's a really silly catch phrase... rocks can't cook! XD) anyways yeah I'm really anxious to see who else is coming up in this final stretch. ^-^

Yeah, that would be cool to, a week before release, yell "Sonic's in Brawl!!!". But, it's to draw more of an audience. That, AND for all the little kids (and big adults) to grab, or save up, for a Wii and Brawl for Christmas. Honestly, most of the Nintendo fans can't go rush out and buy a Wii last minute when there are none. Lol
Remember how the PS3 didn't allow for pre-orders until like, 2 months before it came out? And how they whined and complained that they didn't have as many sales as they thought?. Well, if they'd allow pre-orders, they would've gotten tons more.

:thumb: I'm gunna give Nintendo some credit here. For all those (myself included) who weren't going to rush out and buy a Wii w/ SSBB unless Sonic was in it, now have a reason to buy it.

Well, I do know that now that he's actually in the game, people are still complaining that Megaman wasn't there (*ahem* myself *ahem* j/k:sweat:), nor Ryu from Street Fighter, or whoever. But the fact remains that Nintendo delivered what 75% (probably) of their fans wanted after all. Which, someone has to respect a company that does that.

ROFL. I think that would be quite a long read. Personally, I don't care too much one way or the other, but I think it's cool since so many people wanted him to be playable.

Slater: Sonic has been struggling, yes. But you know, this franchise could very well bring back the glory days of Sonic. Possibly even making this the best 3-D Sonic game of all time.

And if you really don't like him, feel free to use him as a punching bag.

For me, I'm a Sega/Nintendo fanboy, and this is one of my major dreams coming true.

Overall, everyone wins with this update.

So far it's January 24th, 2008 in Japan and TBD in America and Europe. I smell a delay as is the usual Nintendo fashion.

All I can say on the matter is that I hope this means that Tails will become a playable character, too, because he's my favorite. Not too many Sonic characters of course, but it would be nice to see one or two more from the franchise.

I like Sonic being in the game... really wish someone from Street Fighter or something was in it... though that would be weird(no weirder then Solid Snake though)... I only say so because I grew up with Street Fighter and remember it right along side the Marios, Zeldas, Sonics, Donkey Kongs, Mega Mans and Metroids... stick Pac-Man in there too, he has legs and arms now, though I haven't played any of the newer pac-man games. I say that because I love games jam packed with content, like playable characters. I love having a big choice... it is more fun learning them all and using them all to me, than just picking one or two.

Hmm. A point, but a point that begs this question: how does that conflict with the ideals of the Super Smash Bros. series as a whole? The way I see it [your mileage, as always, may or may not vary], Nintendo could have easily made a game with the same engine, using a new cast of characters. In fact, I could see it working quite well ~ one could also use it in conjunction with other franchises as well [say, a Wii version of Jump Ultimate Stars, which would frankly ROCK THE HOUSE despite its massive improbability, or a base fighting game with downloadable character/stage packs]. However, they chose to round up a veritable cornucopia [a word which I undoubtably misspelled] of their more notable characters and make them the focus. Unless you're the Dr. House-esque uber-cynic who claims that it was just a move of laziness [even though that hypothesis is not impossible], it seems to me that "fan-service", although not the "panty-shot/hot springs episode/improbable physiques" school of fanservice, is the driving force behind these three games. How many caffiene-addled adolescents have wondered, "Dude, if Mario and Link ever fought, who would win?", or a similar scenario, replaced by Link and Samus, Peach and Bowser, or whatever duo/trio/horde suits your fancy? One needs only to peruse the Internets [and only a portion of them at that] to find the result of many hours spent/wasted arguing or depicting the victor of a Mario/Sonic deathmatch. Now we have the digital means to reenact such an doubtlessly epic battle ~ or, at least, we will.

Here's an issue, however, that will really bake your noodle: why am I able to "veer most verbose," as a certain masked man would say, upon such an admittedly inconsequential issue, while my English assignments, despite the freedom offered to me, come at a much higher cost in effort?

Anyway, to throw in my two cents about things that AREN'T Sonic related (except one thing, I always thought Live and Learn was overrated, I would've rather heard the theme from the first SA game)...

I took a listen to that "Ashley's Theme" from Warioware. Ugh ugh ugh. Thank God for the option to pick music for stages, so I never have to listen to that atrocity.

Also, Kirby's final smash rocks. I always loved the Cook ability. XD

As far as the release date goes, despite Reggie's claims at E3, the American Smash Bros. site says the release date is now "TBD." So yeah. Totally lame.

Yeah, I'm glad you can at least pick the songs you want; I haven't heard Ashley's theme but I don't want to. Wikipedia talks about the controversiality of that song (for those of you who have no clue what we're talking about), and it's on the page of WarioWare characters under the info about Ashley.

Anyways, what would really be cool (although I think someone already mentioned it in here) is if you could import your own music into the game. I think Alec-kun said something about that...but anyways, it would be really awesome. I'd stick in a ton of dance music.

Also, it's almost common knowledge that Sonic's final smash will be "Super Sonic," right? It's there at the end of the video. (But what's with the 14 chaos emeralds? That's twice what exists! Unless those were the chaos AND sol emeralds, but who knows?)
