Granted, Tom Hanks rode around in a giant mecha while making Forrest Gump. Unfortunately, this gave him a reputation of being hard to work with, which pretty much ended his career. As a side effect, the Da Vinci Code managed to be wildly successful (somehow) and widely believed (what?), so every time you mention to somebody that you're a christian, they start talking about mind control rays from the Pope and whatnot. Plus, the mecha somehow gained sentience and managed to get anime banned from the United States. See what you did?
