i have not verified this, but i was talking to a clerk at FYE yesterday, and he mentioned that geneon got sold and that it would only be a little while that the titles be unavailable, for now I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but it may mean we will see the titles back soon

Out of curiosity, were the Pioneer/Geneon titles marked down a great deal?

Don't think so. If it's an immediate thing, I don't think they'd have time to go through the list of titles to discontinue them all at lower prices.

According to Hellsing OVA director Talesin Jaffe, he is already working on Episodes 4 dub. And he says as far as he knows, nothing will change with the dub. WHICH IS GREAT NEWS!

Unknown, really.

Yeah. Sorry. It must make me seem selfish, but I have only paid attention to Hellsing and none of the other Geneon titles.

I asked the same question at Abhnation and the reply was that while they will remain licensed that they will more than likely end up in
anime Hell for now.

Well, we are more worried about the titles that Genon has and if they will try to work out a deal with another company. I hope they do and I hate to see some of these good titles that they have, sit around for a few years unitll someone buys the title rights for them.

Right now, I'm trying to find the Last Exile box set.

But one of the biggest and most silly panic is that some people at other message boards think this is the end of anime in US market and that is not true at all at one bit.

Well, you may only be basing this on what you're seeing us post. Besides, some of us may have an "in progress" collections--if Genon hits the brakes on sales, that would be, to say the least, inconvient.

Actually, I can tell you about one that is already being discussed on ANN. The series "Black Lagoon", a personal favorite, has just shipped its third disk, completing the first season. ANN's comment. "Enjoy it, BL fans, because that's the last for a while." The second season is licensed by Geneon, but they already have announced they aren't going to release it in the forseeable future.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

I was just at the Geneon website.Unfortunately they don't have anything about what's really going on listed.Though I find it interesting that they
give Rightstuf's e-mail address for Customer inquiries;they have a separate
one for general comments and questions.

I agree that we shouldn't be overly worried here.Doubtless the titles that
Geneon handle will be still avaible one way or another when all is said and
done.

I would blame a lot of the overreaction from people reading too much into
ANN's reporting.

Doubtless when the air clears it will come out that most of the rumors
were just that, rumors.

Well this is from what I read at Animenation and from what I heard from
Rightstuf:
According to what I read at Animenation those titles that Geneon has scheduled to come out on Nov.6 will still be coming out then, those titles
scheduled for afterwards won't.They also said that it's likely that at least some of the titles will be picked up sooner or later by someone else.
What I heard from Rightstuf is that it depends on the title wheter or not they will be avaible. Some will and some won't.
My prediction is that the more popular titles like Tenchi will more than likely find a new home sooner than later. It's more than likely that Bandai or ADV or both will wind up with the main bulk of the Geneon titles.

Was this from Ask John question from AnimeNation.

I only got that from AnimeNation ask John question, but I never saw anything on Rightstuf that talk about that, other then this. Which was what you were talking about in the frist part of the post. If I miss anything, where was it at Rightstuf?

Geneon to Cease DVD Sales Operations

According to a letter that we received today, Geneon plans to cease DVD sales and distribution by the end of this week, accepting only non-returnable orders for releases with scheduled street dates through 11/6/2007.

We are verifying now whether the remainder of the releases will be canceled completely, but it is our guess that the 11/13 releases and beyond are canceled. Rest assured that we have adequate incoming inventory on all of the titles through 11/6 on order and will be able to fill all customer orders -- if you haven't ordered these titles, order them now!

Things are still a bit unclear as to how things going forward for Geneon will be handled, in terms of licensed properties that are in mid-release or have not yet been released. As more information is available, we will certainly update you.

I missed it when it was first out, but I stumbled into this follow-up news article today on ANN:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-10-06/geneon-usa-president-and-ceo-sends-message-to-fans/2

If that link doesn't work, the title is "Geneon USA President & CEO Sends Message to Fans" and the gist of the story is, "Thanks for the memories. We don't know what's going to happen next."

It also includes the following quote from Corey Fisher of Ocean, about a couple of my favorite shows that are in limbo because of Geneon:
"The Second Barrage (2nd season of Black Lagoon) will be completed with the same voice actors, although distribution "is out of Ocean's hands." Similarly, subtitling work is reportedly still proceeding for "the first two seasons of Nanoha, and the first season of Zero no Tsukaima.""

In other words, the production companies in Geneon's pipeline haven't given up, but perhaps are just as much in the dark.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.
