Yup. I'm a Naruto fan. I haven't read much of the Japanese prints, but I'm a follower of Shonen Jump's translated versions.

It's pretty original, and I'm liking most of the character designs. Say, who's your favorite character? Note that if you go past Naruto's first "level C' mission, I won't know what you're talking about. Myself, I like Sasuke.

I like Sasuke and Kakashi. Sometimes even Lee Rock makes me smile  From the female characters... I like Sakura ever since she stood up for herself--too bad she doesn't have much of an role or skill.

The anime is really quite nicely done! The op and ed songs (for episode 30 and on) are now on my fav list

Well, Naruto himself isn't bad, but I really don't like him that much. Perhaps because he doesn't remind me of myself at all.

Oh, yes: Kakashi. He is very cool. He's going to fight for real in the next issue of Shonen Jump. Yay.

If you want Naruto information, one good site is http://www.narutoguide.com. It's entirely in English, and has a lot of information. Of course, there are spoilers, but it's easy to avoid them in you don't want to know. Plus, it has the Japanese opening that you can watch. (it does require the right software, however)

I myself like Naruto a lot. I've seen the episodes 1-16 on DVD. It ends when Sasuke and Naruto are fighting ...what's his face...Zabuza's disciple....gosh!!!...I forgot his name (sigh!):rolls_eye . But it's the guy who looks like and sounds like a girl. They were about to kill him.

It's been awhile but I think it's really suspenseful, and I like how it psyches you out on what you think is going to happen.

My favorite character is Naruto. He reminds me so much of Onizuka from GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka).

I'd guess you're thinking of "One Piece." No, Naruto is the one about ninjas, if that rings a bell.

Nah, I've never read Shonen Jump, but I knew there was a pirate story in it at one point. It always seemed a very good deal for the amount of manga you were getting, though.

I think Naruto can just about make a Shonen Jump worth the buy by itself. Probably the most popular manga in Japan at the moment. Great art, good characters, nice fight scenes, character development- Naruto has a lot.

i watch the fansubbed anime, and the anime is really good. it's not shaman king where the manga is awesome but the anime sucks but rather more on level i'd say with kenshin anime (i have very high opinions of the kenshin anime series)

and they have up to episode 73 on bittorrents, if you pm me i can give you the details and they're legal since there is no american distributor of naruto right now. it would take shonen jump approximately 4-5 years to get to where they are right now ^^

True, but I'm not sure how I feel about doing that. I mean, the manga has been liscensed by a company here. Not the same thing (anime as opposed to manga), but still the same story. I wouldn't feel right demanding you don't, but I myself am edgy on the topic. Not that I'd condemn you.

Not that there's very much of it.

Heh. We all know that we have our favorite characters, but who is everyone's favorite secondary characters? That is: not Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura or Kakashi.

For myself, I'd pick Shino first and Hinata closely after.

Eeee! I loved Naruto ever since I set eyes on it. One of the best ever, and is in my top 5. The opening and ending songs rock.

As for my favorite charater, I'd like to say Sasuke and Sakura. Sasuke is just so cool, and Sakura reminds me of my inner self. Especially that Inner Sakura. =]

As for favorite secondary charater, I'd have to say Rock Lee. He's so awesome. Especially in that one episode where he fought Sasuke.... XD...it was so funny. Love that episode.

The terrifying moldy bread incident! In elementary school, Yomi's leftover bread started rotting inside her desk! you can't imagine what happened! Not only that, but the mold had a will of its own, it was terrible! Barricading ourselves in the science prep room, we used spirit lamps and engaged in combat! Then I realized it!! If we only had the bottle of mildew remover from the bathroom, we could destroy them!!

It bites that Rock Lee only gets a few fights, and then promptly disappears for basically the entire rest of the manga. This operation had better work, as I want to see more of him.

I missed the earlier part of Naruto (both manga and anime). Picked up the anime at the "paper examination" part and manga from the "final examination" part.

Won't say much since I haven't seen it all (will dig back at the beginning when I find the time). So far from what I've seen, Nara Shikamaru is my favourite (he's got a lot of hidden but admirable traits).

I'm fond of Shikamaru myself, though I try to resist the tendancy to say that every character is my favorite. I have those high on my list and that will remain that. Not to say, however, that I cannot like a great number of characters.

Upon Shikamaru's first appearance, I didn't like him at all. However, once his character was more fully explored, he worked his way up my list pretty quickly. For one, I do like his intelligence. Also, I think it was literary genius when
he stays behind so the others can follow Sasuke and Gaara. That moment when time is slipping away and his chakra is running out before the others attack him... very well done.
I love Naruto. But I'm not very far in the series at all. I read the manga but I can't find the anime. I'm reading the ones that Shonen Jump are releasing so I only read the first two books so far. I don't know of any other Naruto English Manga.

heh, that's *why* I like him so much. It completely threw the "don't judge a book by its covers!" statement to my face. I didn't like him at all too but it's rare to find a character whom my initial impression and opinion of, took a 180 degree turn. While his intelligence impressed me, it was his friendship with Chouji that moved me.

BTW, I finally got my hands on the first and second manga of Naruto. I must say I enjoyed them very much and intend to keep collecting the whole series.

Naruto...Naruto...::blissful sigh:: Definitely one of my favourite anime/manga series out there. The plot is so ingenious...and the characters are amazing. The personalities and the character development is so wonderful...and even through 83 episodes...it's still interesting to watch, and every week I can't wait for the next episode to come out. I'd have to say Hatake Kakashi-sensei would be my favourite main character....and probably Hinata would be my favourite secondary character. ^_~ Seriously, this is an AMAZING series...that everyone should watch because um...yeah...it's good... ;)

I suppose that this thread will serve just as well for advanced Naruto discussion as any of the myriad naruto threads that exist on this site.

Are the recent issues annoying anyone else? While I am glad to see Gaara's new abilities and the like, it has been quite a long time since we've seen Naruto and Sasuke. That is the plotline that I am more interested in at the moment.

Alternately, I would be fine we Kakashi did anything else.
