Shadow of X-Dawn: Memoir of Gen Mercury

Postby ~darkelfgirl~ » Mon Jul 23, 2007 7:15 pm

This short story is the prelude to a graphic novel I'm planning called Midnight. This is particularly original in its kind because this prelude is in the perspective of a villain (instead of the usual protagonist). It explains an significant event in Midnight's history and also the history of a significant character. It's dark and emotional, so if you don't like those things...well, this story has it.
P.S. A breaklet is a weapon like a ring and bracelet connected together (I can't describe it well yet so I'll draw a pic and put it on here later).

My son.

His face looked strangely peaceful in the photograph—his golden eyes shone with inner happiness. In his small hands was a teddy bear with a red-velvet bow. He sat in the grass, staring up at me with those innocent eyes.

Innocent two-year-old eyes.

He was my happiness. Through those golden eyes, I could see the past. I remember.

The wailing and screaming in the distance. Running through a dark hallway, frantically searching for the right door—praying for the right door. Behind each door, harsh disappointment.

Sudden silence.

I was too late...

A tear rolled down my cheek as I sat in a corner in the dark. I could still feel the burning despair and the cool of the breeze from the open window…I could still see his small, lifeless body on the dusty floor…and the note beside it.

TOO LATE!!! The red words on the note rocked my world.

I still hear it—my yells and cries of anguish. My arms still felt the evanescing warmth of his body….

I suddenly got up and viciously punched the wall.

Oh wow. Naturally, I really like the point of view here. XD I would've liked to see who killed his son, but I guess I'll have to wait for the mystery to be revealed later. Mafia kinda groups clashing maybe? Nice job so far. The dark creepy tone really got me hooked.

Thanks, Temmy. Yeh, the murderer will be revealed later--maybe in "Midnight".

It seems mafiaish but it's really not XD. If the dark creepy tone got you hooked

then I'm doing something right hehe.

P.S. I despise bananas. Ack!

Pic of Breaklet Weapon

Postby ~darkelfgirl~ » Tue Jul 24, 2007 12:38 pm

Here's a pic of a breaklet weapon. It's worn over a dark glove for protection from

heat and power. The flourishes on the skin is from radiating energy

(kinda looks like a neon tattoo).

P.S.: You are looking at the back of the hand, not the palm (I'm not good with perspective  )

Well, here's the second part of the story--hope you enjoy it.

The Capital--soon to be ours.

Dressed in black leather uniforms and black caps, the A.M.D. security unit encircled us in the brightly lit lobby of Aeon’s government headquarters (a.k.a. The Capital). Chaos enveloped the room—some civilians ran for cover under desks or behind corners, and huddled against the walls. Despite this, we stood casually as if that were all child’s play.

I guess we’re very popular with civilians.

o.o;; *Totally missed this earlier* Gah... sorry... I is spazzy at times. -_____-;;

Oooh nice sketch. I like the idea of the breaklets. Kinda a cool, unconventional futuristic weapon. O.O It's his son's clone! Or... somebody kidnapped Alex and faked his death to get him away from that pyscho! XD Just speculating. Hope you get a chance to write more of this one. Tis really good!

Thanks Temmy ^^, oh Wing beneath my wings, hehe.

Hehe, the sketch was cheaply done by outlining my hand ^^'. I just wanted to give a quick example XD
The stones from the breaklets are from individual giant cave crystals that harvest different energies (I was just dying to give a quick lecture). That idea might change...
Nice speculations....
Yeh, I'll write some more. The thing is, I'm so overloaded with inspiration for different stories-in-the-making. I'll try and control my excitement ^^ This is what caused the last Darkelf Meltdown (a.k.a. writer's block).

Oooh I see now (on the breaklets). You should color it so we can see the colors on 'em! O.O

I know I get that way too... it took me so long just to sit down and focus on one story. *Grabs a bucket and mop for potential meltdown in the near future... thwacks Darkelf with a dirty mop simply because I felt like it.*

Yeh, meltdowns tend to get really messy! Also bring a helmet and build a bunker. *grabs a plunger and whacks Temmy*

I'll probably post some more Shadow tomorrow ^^ In the meantime, I have to read a really boring philosophical book that I ABSOLUTELY hate! :eyeroll: It's a cure for insomnia.

Well, due to the Chairwoman's request, I have continued this story ^^. Disclaimer: I am not a psychopathic person. This is from the perspective of a villain. Thank-you. I apologize if my writing style is different--I've been busy lately, hehe. Enjoy.

Taciturn, I stared gloomily at my reflection on the gold, polished wall of the elevator. A pale-faced man with jet-black, long hair and dark eyes stared gloomily back at me. He took tired—weary of the thoughts and emotions that plagued his soul.

Next to the gloomy man was a younger one—one with razor-cut, blond hair and green eyes; he leaned casually against the wall, gazing back at me with curiosity. It seemed as if he desired to ask me what was on my mind, but he held his tongue.

Ding…Ding…Ding…

The elevator chimed as it passed each floor. The constant ring broke my concentration. I gazed up at the digital display, which indicated that we were passing the twentieth floor.

I really like this writing style. XD It's different, but it fits the sci-fi dystopia feel really well. So THAT's why Gen joined the Alpheus organization. I wonder - is this going to be like two corrupt factions fighting against each other? O.O The chairwoman approves of psychoness! Keep it up! Tis really good!

Oh, Thank-you chairwoman. Teehee, the Alpheus organization is called "Midnight". Hmm.....read on to find out.
Yeh, I had to right that disclaimer so I won't be hunted down. Oh the crazy world we live in...

"Oh Judgement, thou art fled to brutish beasts and men have lost their reason!"
Hehe, I always wanted to use that. It's from "Julius Caesar" by Shakespeare--had to memorize Antony's little weepy section.

"Beware the ides of March!!" Bwahahaha. I got to say that line in my school reading of the play.

Anyway, I shall read on and see!

"Ides of March" hehe. Man, stinks to have a friend like Brutus, who is an honorable man. For some reason after Brutus, you have to say he's an honorable man.

Okays! Hope you enjoy the rest!
