Most likely a glitch. We haven't worked out all the bugs yet. *points to Oldphil* but he's the one to talk to, really. Just don't harass him or anything.

Hmm it's at my Blockbuster, gotta rent it sometime. After I get all my projects in, blah school.
Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

This really sounds wonderful. I clicked on this thread because the title intrigued me, and now I feel as though I might just cry reading about it. As soon as I find myself having money again, I am going to have to look for this anime. The premise is so touching, I know the actual thing must be great. I believe I would cry very hard though...I had a friend name Mikako once, and we were very close. However, she returned to Japan to be with her family, just at the time of the Sars virus, and I have never heard from her again. I've spent a lot of time worrying about her...but an anime character with her name is more than enough reason for me to save up for this.

Wow. I am quite intrigued by this, since you guys like it so much. My friend that got me into anime was telling me about this just before I signed on, so when I saw it, I was a little surprised. I don't know why, but oh well. This and Grave of the Fireflies are my top two anime movies I must see. Maybe if I get some cash for Christmas...

sorry for the late post but... better than making a new thread. it's not that old anyway, it's still on the first page.

i've just got the DVD borrowed from my friend. in a word; amazing.

one of best animes i would have seen now. the reasons are beyond. the hand-drawings maybe not be the prettiest, nor are the characters beautiful or that, but everything is just perfect. in fact, i'm watching again for like the 10th time now. it's just that good. and in another fact, i'll get my own copy as well from local EB.

see it. you really wouldn't regret it.

(btw, it's pretty sad, but it isn't sad enough to make me cry. probably just me, but just didn't. but considering that, it's a very sad story... if i even consider it sad :P)

Just to let anyone interested know (in other words, just because I want to say it!) I bought the DVD today, and am jumping through the roof with excitement! I've seen it once in Japanese with Eng. subtitles, so I may watch it next time in English. Any thoughts about the cat flick??

I saw the first DVD a little while ago. I like how so much emotion is conveyed so quietly, like so many notes in a bottle. It really is a beautiful anime.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

That'd be a boo boo. It's supposed to be 12+.

Just thought I'd pass this along: Tokyopop is publishing a manga of this.

This anime is really good. I bought the DVD a few years ago after I watched it at blockbuster (again, I had seen the DVD on the shelf for a few years..and avoided it because of a 'mature rating' sticker...didn't know what to expect!) and I just fell in love with it. I can't wait until I buy the manga!

I think the thing I find most depressing about all of this, is that the soundtrack is out of print in most stores and I can't find it anywhere for an at least 'okay' price x.x

I love this anime. It is such a good story and yet so tragic. I can't beleive it was all done by one man on his home comp!

I thought I was going to be gravedigging, but no. Anyways, I wanted to point out that while there is no manga that the movie is based on, there actually is a manga that is based on the anime. I picked it up at Borders yesterday and will start reading it today, because I'm going to need it...the worst part of a trip is waiting to get to where you're going :P.

But yeah, just thought I'd mention that.
