Yobi: the Five tailed fox

Postby ChristianKitsune » Fri May 11, 2007 10:15 am

ookaaay... I just watched this movie yesterday...It's a Korean animated movie about a little five tailed fox and her experience with humans.

I guess in Korean Mythology, nine tailed foxes are kinda...not so nicey nice. They devour the souls of humans so they in turn, can be come human.

But this little fox is different, she doesn't want to do this...

There are some elements that really make you want to raise your eyebrow and go, "What!?" And This is a Korean film so that's not to hard to understand. But there is talk about Reincarnation, and stuffs like that... but I took it with a grain of salt and thought of it more as a fairy tale...

The animation in Yobi the Five Tailed Fox is really awesome. I haven't seen many Korean animations but I gotta say this rivaled any anime I have seen. (Not hard to see since a lot of anime is done in Korea)

I highly recommend this little movie to anyone who likes cute stories. Because I really think this is a cute story. It was probably made to be enjoyed by kids, but hey, I think anyone who is young at heart can enjoy it. I would also say, that it's almost as good as any Hayao Miyazaki film...so give it a chance! ^_^

Here is a video/commerical for this movie...

Aww kawaii. I'll have to check this one out if I ever see it hanging around. Unfortunately, my computer is too slow to handle youtube. I like the lil' floaty rabbit things behind her. The pretty water color look reminds me a lot of Miyazaki. It almost looks the forest from Mononoke.

I don't know anything specifically about Korean mythology. But I do know Naruto has the whole 9-tails Kyuubi thing. Plus you have 9-tails from Pokemon.

So I suppose it's a general east-asian thing?

^^; maybe? I didn't know that the Nine Tails in Japan did the same thing though...O_o I was just reading a synopsis of the movie and it said, "Korean Mythology."

Hey, Ryan do you know anything about a flying sink? Because there is like a flying sink in this movie...^^;

Looks good enough to try. I'll watch it when I get a chance.

And yet I moreso thought that the nine tailed fox with was moreso tied in with Shintoism (unless there is a minority of people in Korea who practice it/have their mythology).

I know that there is VERY few titles for Korean animation (at least in the anime-ish style) but this one does look good^^
