Squeenix Conference announcements summary (Star Ocean, FFIV remakes)

That's right. Star Ocean 1 and 2 are getting PSP remakes.

FFIV is getting the FFIII treatment on DS.

Chocobo Mysterious Dungeon for Wii

Last Remnant (New franchise!) 360/PS3

Star Ocean 4 (no platform announced)

Final Fantasy Cristal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers for Wii

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Rings of Fate for DS

Final Fantasy XII Intl. for PS2, with new job system.

Lots of Cool stuff coming out.

Didn't they just remake FFIV for the GBA? Unless its popularity was through the roof, I just see it as wasteful. Now, FFVII is something I can see remaking since it was so popular, but that just might be the fangirl in me talking.

I wouldn't call it wasteful at all. The only ways available beforehand to play FFVI were to play it on the SNES or the Playstation, and both of those versions may be relatively hard to come by these days.

As for their FFVII remakes...gah. If I see one more, I will be tempted to strangle a chocobo. Square needs to use NEW ideas and make money off of those, instead of regurgitating old material to make a quick buck due to popularity. XD If they're going to get into the remake business, though, I'd at least like to see them do something with FFVIII. That was definitely my favorite (so far) from the series. XD

But FFIV isn't only on the snes anymore; it's on the gameboy advance as well, and it's only been on the GBA for what, a couple years? Why make another remake? It just confuses me, is all.

And like I said, it's probably just the fangirl in me talking. XD Something with VIII might be cool. It's a shame there could be probably be nothing done with IX though. With VIII, there are still possiblities; IX was too conclusive.

Well, this time around it is getting the royal treatment. Also, not everyone bought FFIV advance that wanted it. I wanted it, but never bought it due to lack of funding. Now I can't find it anywhere. New or used. If I can buy it on DS in full 3d, I am all for it.

That whole sequence in Spidey 3 was... Embarassing... And really really funny, hehehe... It stopped being funny once Peter got to the club, though...

I never played Star Ocean the first time through. I may want to pick it up, now.

I'd hardly consider the FF3 chibbi-3d the "Royal treatment." Sprites are fine as sprites... Make them 3d and try to keep that look, it just goes horribly wrong... It was fine for FF3... None of those characters had established images to me... FF4 characters did.. Ugh...

Well, I thought that the screen shots looked quite nice. They looked exactly as I thought they should. The sprites, but 3d.

Here's hoping for FFVI 3D.

Never came out in America. I think there's an emulation of it somewhere out there that got fan-translated, though. Even so, I'm not so sure I'm too excited about the release of it. I'm much more excited about SO 4.
