Could it possibly be more confusing then the last 49 episodes?

Question: After reviewing the first DVD, I noticed that Nirvash is referred to as as both a boy and a girl...which is it?!

In Responce to Sock's question.
as I watched the last episode Nirvash began talking...and it sounded like a girl's voice, but then again, that could simply be the japanese...
Thanks Kitchan!

I now have another favorite quote from Renton after watching the first couple of episodes again on DVD. This time, from the original Japanese V/A when Renton first sees Eureka in the moonlight.

"Kawaii!"

Don't worry...IMHO, you're NOT missing anything!

BTW, does anyone else think that Eureka and Renton's JAPANEESE V/A look just like Eureka and Renton (granted, I know Renton's V/A is a girl, but still...)

Renton's VA is Johnny Young Bosch, man.
What are you talking about?

EDIT: Unless you mean the sub.

Sorry! I made the change--I should've said ORIGINAL Japaneese V/A...

Though now that you mention it...JYB does favor Renton a bit...

Oh yeah. He's really versatile! it's amazing to think that the same guy who did 14 year old Renton also did the voice of Kiba on Wolf's Rain and Vash on Trigun...

And let's not forget, he was the black Power Ranger! He rocked both fandoms!

Yes!
The animation in that scene looked insane....I loved it.
This little bit in particular...:

They got it to look handpainted or something! o_o I don't know if I've ever seen animation that looked quite like that.... I wish that scene were longer!

CRAZY cliffhanger too....
I'm nervous over the last episode! o_o

Compare that moment to the CG cars in GitS or Blood+. It's SOOOOO much more natural!

Hey Blitz!

If you look through that gallery, you'll see what I was talking about earlier about Renton's hair. It does change over the course of the series!

BTW, out of curiosity, did anyone else notice on one of the earlier episodes when Doggie was following around Renton with his video camera that there was a little kid licking a lollipop behind him? Just wondering because this kid is just so cool! No speaking lines at all, just leaning against the wall licking a lolly!

Hmmm.... I can KINDA see it. I'd imagine that he's easier to draw with less hair flying out the sides.

Wow, I don't even remember that kid. Maybe he's hiding out wherever the tea-drinking dude goes.

Heh, yeah, maybe they hang out together! Sip, slurp, sip, slurp...

Eureka Seven has the weirdest background characters, and he was the first one I noticed! Just a little kid slurping a lolly!

BTW...I took a quick peek at the last episode on The Fix on Adult Swim...couldn't hear much on the computer speakers at work, though. It looks like a great episode, albeit confusing!

Without divulging too much, I'll say this one thing--Renton's shoes finally get retired in this episode!

Really? They actually left some stuff out? No WONDER I was so confused for the first ten minutes!

Anywa... Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaah! :) I'm quite please with this ending. Very few anime can pull of that blatant a happy ending and be so free of sappiness or cop outs. Still, it really felt like they were straining to fit everything they needed to into those 30 minutes. Several important points of the episode seemed like they didn't get a chance to be as potent as they could have been because they went by so fast. For example...
THE OLD TEA DUDE WAS A CORALIAN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I mean, it kind of makes sense in retrospect, but that just flew in out of nowhere and then it was gone just as fast. They really could have milked that revelation for a LOT
Still, the sheer levels of "SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET, DUDE!" managed to overcome my natural nitpicking inclinations, and that says a LOT about the show.

I gotta ask, though: what did we miss at the ending? ...WAIT! DON'T TELL ME!!! ...Okay, do. NO, DON'T!!!!

So... does anyone know how they showed this episode in Japan? Was it commercial free or something? That would explain a thing or two. Watching all these desperate, bitter ads begging people to go justify the investment they made Aqua Teen Hunger Force The Movie makes me understand why they wouldn't bend over backwards to accommodate this episode...

How much of the ending did they cut? Adult Swim Message Boards are about to burst with threads about them cutting the first couple of minutes and the last couple of minutes.

Ah well, no matter...I did a quick preview of the entire episode on "The Fix" on the breakroom computers at work. It doesn't look like I missed TOO much. I'll watch my recording when I get home.

Please tell me they kept the kiss in...and Kitchan, did you see what I was talking about when I mentioned Renton's shoes?

Yeah, they kept the kiss. Two kisses, actually.

While I'd LIKE to think that AS is going to catch heck for this, I have a seaking suspicion that they felt they could get away with it because they knew they WOULDN'T hear much... no more that usual, at least.
Yes tey keep the kiss in... but yeah they turn into these lights.
The end was important I think. I mean.. they leave you guys with Eureka and Renton just floating around...

the end is nice..and neat and Khaki unless they show the ending at 3 am... I don't think your recording will be of much service to ya...you missed a good 2 minutes at beginning and end...

like when they started the episode with Holland asking the army guy what happened to his hands... I was like "wait a scond...there should more to this! and I was right!

Okay, time to give my two cents on this particular episode:

I have been on this earth for 21 years now, and NEVER has ANY cartoon made me squeal like this one! While I didn't really miss the two minutes that Adult Swim cut from the beginning, I was near rage-filled when I discovered that the last scenes of the 1 year jump was cut!

There were several scenes in this episode that I would like to bring special attention to:

1. Opening Theme: Granted, I love the song "Sakura", but I think that, for the last episode, we could've done without it--especially if it ment a few extra minutes of the cut scenes.

2. Renton's Clies: In the scene when Talho and the kids reunite, there's a quick shot of Renton's shoes under the table. The same one's he's worn for the last 50 episodes/1 year. Is anyone else shocked that they lasted THAT long?!

3. Something Missing: During Renton's clothing transformation, we see him change his shoes, socks, and jacket. Yet, he leaves behind the "fanny pack" that he's had on since the start of the whole series! WHOO-HOO! Guess nobody got around to telling him that Fanny Packs went out WAAAAY back in the day!

4. Rentons' Shinji-like Breakdown: Am I the only one who thought that Renton at the beginning of the episode REALLY mirrored a Shinji-esque breakdown from Neon Genesis Evangelion?

5. Gekko's "Red Alert" Klaxxon: Did anyone else think this sounded SO MUCH COOLER than Star Trek's Red Alert Alarm?! Especially's Woz's exclamation of "NOT GOOD!"

6. SAY WHAT?!: Before Renton heads out aboard the Nirvash, he gives Maurice some papers wrapped in plastic. When he holds them up later, they have Kanji writing on them with no translation given. Granted, I now AS never gives translations of Kanji characters on E7, because they're not playing the last couple minutes of the show, it would've been nice if we saw what was written!

7. Maurice's "Papa" line: SO COOL!!!!

8. Renton's "I CAN FLY!!!!!" Line: Um....okay...Where did THAT come from? To me, it seems kinda...ugh. I half expected the R. Kelly Song "I Believe I Can Fly" to play...someone's going to have a ball making an AMV out of that one!

9. The Hairpin Situation: When Renton and Eureka are finally reunited, he gives her the hairpin back and puts it back in her hair. WHY?!?! IMHO, she looks better WITHOUT it!

10. Nirvash's Voice: Meh...it's okay...I guess...guess I'm just so used to hearing someone else saying "The Nirvash says this" or "The Nirvash says that".

Overall, while they did cut some of the scenes that would've tied up the loose ends to ALL the character arks (Except Talho and Holland--I would've gave my best socks to find out if they had a boy or a girl), I still think this was an absolutely spetacular episode and a great ending to a 50 week road trip that truly rocked our freaking socks!

After reading all this. I DEMAND A REPLAY OF THE SERIES! NO CUTS! NO ADS
Then acourse I will just go buy the DVDs to see it all. I feel AS and CN cut too much out to show all of series they run.

1. Opening Theme: Granted, I love the song "Sakura", but I think that, for the last episode, we could've done without it--especially if it ment a few extra minutes of the cut scenes.

Agreed. I think that even in Japan this was cut...

4. Rentons' Shinji-like Breakdown: Am I the only one who thought that Renton at the beginning of the episode REALLY mirrored a Shinji-esque breakdown from Neon Genesis Evangelion?

Well, I don't think Shinji is the only anime character that's allowed to have a breakdown...there are plenty of other young shonen guys that have breakdowns.. ^^; But I think Renton's is especially important.. Here is why: It's a sign that he is finally growing up. Think about it, remember when we first saw Reton, what an absolute brat he was? Always complaining, and only on board to follow Eureka around? Now, we see that Renton really did want to keep his promises, he really wanted to see his family again. But he knew that he lost them. He lost Eureka, after all that, he probably didn't see a point of living. In other words, he was really depressed. I think Renton just felt that he needed to be punished for not being able to keep his promises...

It's for his Grandfather. I believe it's a bill that was given to him in Episode 37, but I just read that somewhere..^^;

7. Maurice's "Papa" line: SO COOL!!!!

I KNOOOW!! I nearly cried there.
especially when you see the end, and find that Eureka and Renton adopted the kids...
8. Renton's "I CAN FLY!!!!!" Line: Um....okay...Where did THAT come from? To me, it seems kinda...ugh. I half expected the R. Kelly Song "I Believe I Can Fly" to play...someone's going to have a ball making an AMV out of that one
!

Hmm I think this was an important scene... I admit I didn't really understand why he shouted "I..can.. FLY!" but it was kinda cool... I mean literally, he is excited! He wants to see Eureka, and he will do anything to get to her. The fastest way to get to her is to fly. I think this scene was very touching because, even though it meant killing Eureka's Kin. He would shoulder that weight just so he could see her.

9. The Hairpin Situation: When Renton and Eureka are finally reunited, he gives her the hairpin back and puts it back in her hair. WHY?!?! IMHO, she looks better WITHOUT it!

I think it was to show the thing on her head. I like her hair like this.. XD but that's just me... I thought this was a lovely scene too.. ^_^

10. Nirvash's Voice: Meh...it's okay...I guess...guess I'm just so used to hearing someone else saying "The Nirvash says this" or "The Nirvash says that".

I TOLD YOU IT WAS A GIRLL! BWAHHAAA!!

Okays now for my rant about the ending! How awesome it truly was!!
After the 1 year later.. we see the kids and Rentons Grandad at a diner. Apparently the kids have JUST been adopted. and Grandad has taken the three kids to a diner. saying "This is how we will offcially welcome you into the family. by getting burgers!" HOOOW COOL.
Maurice asks if it was any trouble...and I find it cool that Grandad said no or something.. XD

At the end they leave to go see the moon. Which has Renton's and Eureka's name in graved in it! Sooo COOL!

We also see Dominic and Anemone!!! They are camping... Kyaa squee..

Then we can see two lights...that just landing to earth...a closer look reveals that it is Eureka and Renton.. KYAAA I love them!!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/ ... 147215.jpg

the ultimate purpose of their becoming "one" was to create a harmony between the Coraleans and the Humans!!

Check out this piiic! It's the cover of the 13th DVD! For what I mean...by creating harmony... *o*
