Our general interpretation of the movie... (me and two friends) was that there was enough underlying plot and concept for another full season of anime, and they crammed everything into the movie...its like watching the whole box set in 1.5 hours hitting fast forward as soon as a charachter is onscreen that has already been seen earlier... I wanted to cry afterward due to the fact that they misused the series so badly.

I disagree about the movie. It's incredibly fast paced, but it is a good movie for fans of the show. The nudity is not detailed and it lasts a very short time. Ruri (as an adult) is in a Fetal position thinking about the past I believe, so you don't see anything during the scene, until she gets up, and you see maybe the shape of her chest, but it's not anatomically correct.

I loved the movie. I guess it is a matter of taste, and there were a lot of things changed between the show and the movie (may of which take place in the game) so it may disappoint many fans, but I loved it. The animation was incredible (they used some gainax tricks) and it was great to see a revival of the characters you grew to love that the show so callously cut off from us. It still has a somewhat open-ended ending, but it's much better than that sorry excuse for an ending on the show.

Things to watch out for: The scene with ruri, a mock flirting thing between one of the Jovians and a kid (He was just screwing with the kid's head, because the kid is so serious and short tempered) and a decent amount of fanservice (involving both males (such as Jun) and females (such as Ruri))

I've heard that the show was funny and the movie was depressing. Some things are sad (about Akito and Yurika, for instance) but I was laughing for a good portion of the movie. It's much quicker than the show, which can be grating for some, but I loved it... If you liked stuff like Kodomo no Omocha or Excel Saga, you should be able to handle the fast pace. It's fast even when there are sad moments, so it's not just fast paced humor. That does take some adjustment, but I didn't see a mistreatment of any of the Characters. I think it showed how Ruri had grown both physically and emotionally. She's not a robot anymore. She's got real emotion and she is definately the star, even if she does somewhat play an observing role in a big portion of the movie.

I really liked the movie. If I'm in the minority, I guess that's ok. I'm unappologetic, though (since when have I been apologetic about liking something?)

Nadesico will always be one of my favorit anime, no to mention the only one where I own the whole searies.^^
It is a paradee on lots of differant types of anime, includeding the serious and silly versions of each. You have romantic love storys, you have silly love storys, there are epic "giant robot" battles, and silly over dramatized attacks, you even have anime in this anime, not to mention some characters that dont like anime (strange hu?). The list goes on and on.

But there are some drawbacks.

The phrase (please excuse this) "God Dam it!!" is used quite freely.

The story, to me, struggled in the end. You were left questioning if this was really the ending to the exiting, hillarious, anime that you had grown to love.

Finaly (with the intent not to spoil anything), Guy (I do not know the correct spelling) was my favorit character.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
