Help me find a game that's right for me!

Help me find a game that's right for me!

I got myself a laptop recently, wirelessly connected into a broadband internet connection, and I've gotten this desire to have one (just ONE is all I need) good MMO game to play. I decided to start out by looking for free ones. So I was wondering if all of you wonderful people could help me out. I want the game to be:

- Completely free, as in free download and no subscription cost. If it's one of those 'pay cash for items if you want', then it can't destroy the balance of gameplay like I've heard so often.

- Not a hardcore RPG. I hate boring leveling up and all that. I like games that give me a complete toolbox at the beginning and let me use my skill to become a master. Not many MMOs are like this, though, so a bit of leveling is fine as long as it's not an overwhelming aspect of the game. (AKA grinding.)

I've tried Gunz and Rakion, as well as some of the FPS games like Enemy Territory, Nexuiz, Alien Arena, etc. The first two are pretty bad, ET is fun, Nexuiz lags too much, and AA has no community.

So, any help? 2D, 3D, whatever, as long as it's *fun* and will last me a while.

A good number of us play FlyFF, (Everdred12a, Felix, Sunako, and I)

It is a rather major grind-fest though, but it can be fun in many situations. Plus if you decide to go Full Assist, it's not so much a grind-fest.
