Reliable DVD sellers?

Postby Sozo Bakura » Mon Mar 12, 2007 7:52 am

Usually I just go to Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, or Amazon, but I was wondering if either of these online stores were reliable:

http://www.discountanimedvd.com/

I know lots of places will just rip you off or deliver bad-quality merchandise. If anyone has experience with either of these sites, would you please tell me?

Deepdiscount.com has a fine selection of anime titles under DVDs, and can compete with Amazon in terms of price range.

The company AllAnimeDvd deals in bootlegs.

I think I came across where both were listed as doubtful.

DiscountAnime looks like it has an import branch, but nothing suspicious.

AllAnimeDVD, however, carries the FullMetal Alchemist "Complete Box Set," which is pretty much a universally accepted sign that said site is actually dealing bootlegs.

I heard it was, and if you look around sometimes you'll see packaged boxsets that don't even look like they'd exist in Japan because the boxes look like they were just images taken from manga covers or something, and for EXTREMELY low prices, I mean, got to remember that imports are pricey anywhere you'd go and a boxset for 20 bucks is something else :/

Oh, and also to add that some of the "imports" also contain english/Chinese dubs/subs in some of them :/ Yeah that's, something else there...

Really? I guess looks can be deceiving. Yeah, nothing wrong with importing legimate copies (some of which would have English subtitles), but let's cut down on the piracy.

Signs that a dvd is a bootleg.

1. The price is very cheap.

2. The dvd has English and Chinese subtitles. Most anime companies do not release anime dvds with both english and chinese subtitles. (as what Tenshi no Ai said a few post a head of me)

3. If the dvd says no region or all region, then its a bootleg. Japan is region 2 and North America is region 1.

List of companies that make bootleg anime dvds.

Animation Video

Anime Cartoon

Fx

Anime Studio

Also if it's from Taiwan then that would be a pretty good hint that it's a bootleg as they're notorious for creating bootlegs of anime titles.
