Wow, a rollback
[Server Status] System Downtime and Rollback[March 2nd, 2007]
Hello all,

Yes, it says roll back in the title. I am so sorry to announce this.

At 9pm PST on March 1st. 2007, an error was brought to my attention. We immediately began looking into the situation and brought down the servers.
Let me deal with the current estimated time of the system to become available.

Currently the ETA is 2:00 AM PST.

San Jose
U.S.A. - California
Fri 2:00 AM PST

New York
U.S.A. - New York
Fri 5:00 AM EST

Greenwich city
U.K. - England
Fri 10:00 AM GMT

However, I have been told that there is a serious roll back after the emergency maintenance.
Lawolf rolled back to March 1st, 11:30 am PST
Aibatt rolled back to March 1st, 11:30 am PST
Mushpoie rolled back to March 1st, 11:30 am PST
Mia rolled back to March 1st, 11:30 am PST
Glaphan No rollback

This was not planned, not anticipated, and we are sincerely sorry that this has happened.

The GM team will be talking tomorrow about ways that we can make it up to you, as we recognize that you will have not only lost levels, but your time, items in game and of course, we will work to restore gpotatos and cashshop items purchase through the cashshop at that time.

Please do not email us asking for drops that you may have received, as returning them will not be possible I am afraid.

Again, I am so sorry that this has happened, Gala-Net will be working to ensure that there is not a repeat of this in the future.

Sincerely,
Ceilidhs.

Ouch.

Oh well, it's just a game, nothing to freak over. A rollback just means that we get to experience the magic of levelling up and finding rare items twice!
Haha, well maybe not, but maybe they'll pull some awesome event (like 4x exp or triple drops) to make up for it.

Yeah, the rollback bugs me a little. I'm losing about 20% experience from the whole deal, and that's 4 or 5 hours of leveling.

I am downloading this now. Hopefully the servers will be back up when I get home from work tonight. Anyone have any tips for a newb?

The only tips I can think of is to always try to fight stuff that is 2-3 levels above you at the start, and don't use any of your skill points until you get to your job change (you'll see what I mean)
Good to have another player! If you have any questions, just ask 'em here.

Same here, that's the way to go.

Unless you're an AoE build of course.

*reinstalls FlyFF due to withdrawls*

Yeah, as a Ranger, I can tell you that unless you got FS or like 80 Sta (which is a BAD idea), don't expect to ever fight stuff more than 4 levels higher than yourself... Granted, you'll be killing in huge volumes, but gaining very little exp per each monster.

Of course, AoE builds are also very good at gianting... I can solo giants 12 levels higher than myself currently (not recommended... you get very poor drops from doing this), but a single giant that high can take 15-25 minutes to kill without backup.

Uh, AoE builds aren't good at killing giants.... AoE builds tend to lack speed. The ranger not so much as other classes, but nonetheless, still lacks speed. Speed is one of the keys in giant hunting, especially at higher levels.

Level 9 at Bangs wins. And yes, I've done it. It's even more awesome to run up to Wagsaacs at level 10 and kill them faster than the other kids fighting there.

*echoes MSP* Yeah, I'd like to see you fight Wagsaacs at level 10 without any buffs.

Edit:

Eldridge is level 54 now.

Kiv is level 36.

I have a new character named Klouse who is a level 18 female mercenary.

Ryan introduced me to Flyff last weekend and so far I have:

PrincePapaya (male, level 20): Magician → Psykeeper
MorningsGlory (female, level 37): Assist → Ringmaster
Jasdero (male, level 20): Acrobat → Jester
× s h i n i e s , y e s ? ×

does it not burn... LIKE THE SUN?!

Good to know that you play too, Sunako! ^^/

What are you talking about? RMs are like whipping boys XD

Nice, I got Klouse up to level 21 tonight...
I have some questions though.

1st, is Sneaker any good? Is it worth spending my skill points to get it?

2nd, what does the impower weapon skill even do? It said I had to have an elemental attribute to be able to use it...

Okay, your merc friend will help.

Before v7, it was encouraged to make protection and pan barrier to level 20, but now that's different.

Make Protection and Pan barrier at the minimum in order to get Sneaker. You WANT sneaker. Sneaker = Best Merc skill. Max that out.

Don't touch impower weapon. Spending time to make your weapons a good elemental requires too much.

And do not invest in ANY offensive merc skills. They are used sometimes as a Knight, but you end up using the other Knight abilities later on.

And of course, Blazing Sword/Sword Master (Or the Axe variations) are a must. Max those out.

So basically. Sneaker, Blazing Sword/Axe, and Sword/Axe Master should all be at 20. Everything else is at the 0 or the minimum.
