Which should I get?

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

Which should I get?

I'm getting a PS3 on either monday or wednesday (!), and a PSP in the next month or two because of two awesome deals I got from friends. I'm really excited, and I'll be able to afford it (60 for the PSP, 25 a month for the PS3) because of not needing to take the train, but I won't be able to afford more than one game over that...

So, I'm a huge metal gear fan, and I want to get portable ops, but that is, what, 50 bucks? Resistance, the only PS3 game I'd probably want to own right now, is gonna be 60 bucks, or I wait until the end of march and have a choice of FEAR, which is a slightly gimped port of a PC game (and PC to 360 port is much easier...)

Here's the thing... As games, I'd take Metal Gear over a FPS anyday. It's just that, I'll have that shiny new machine and nothing but my linux based old console emulators on it, and some demos (like GT:HD... Woopty doo)

I'm fine not having any games for the PSP, because it doubles as a portable movie player and internet browser. PS3 doesn't have portability to its credit, so I really would like at least one game to own on the system. Motorstorm looks great, but it doesn't have splitscreen. Virtua Fighter is an option, but I'm not sure I really want to BUY a fighting game, except of course for Power Stone Collection (I loved those games so much) So... What should I do? Buy a PSP game and leave myself with an expensive new system that doesn't have any games, or buy a PS3 game and just use my PSP as a portable media player and gimped web browser? Which one?

Really, it comes down to Resistance, FEAR, Motorstorm, and maybe Virtua Fighter 5 which would really only do me good if I bought another controller... So, mark that one off the list... Should I just wait 2 months and keep my systems game free (except demos and emulators) for the next 2 months? Hopefully I can get a job and be able to buy one for each, and another controller... So, yeah... This is what I've got. What does everyone think?

Don't forget Metal Gear Solid 4 . . .

That said, I'd probably go portable for now. Wait for some more appetizing games for PS3, since it doesn't appear that there are any that really excite you.

I definately didn't forget MGS4... If I have the money at all by that time, I'm preordering MGS4. This will be my first preorder. Too bad I can't get any real answers on its release... I get September 1st from gamestop, october 15 from best buy... GAH! When will we get a real date?! It better not be 2008... The PS3 won't survive that long without it.

I would get the PSP first, then the ps3 later.

Why? I dunno. XD That's what I do.

There is more incentive for you to get a PSP. As far as I know, the PSP has a larger library of better games (At the current moment). Whereas the ps3 should in the future.

And if it means something to you, also acts as a portable media device.

Here's a tip. Availability information for videogames are ALWAYS wrong on websites like target, bestbuy, ebgames/gamestop, etc.

The reason is because they're forced to put down a date, so they pretty much put whatever. 95% of the time they are wrong.

The most accurate places are gamespot.com. And if gamespot says "TBA", then it is TBA.

As for MGS4, it says "TBA 2007".

Well I'm already getting both. THe PS3 on monday or wednesday, and the PSP as soon as one comes in.

I know that they stores may not be right about release dates... I just wish the September release was true...
