Most heroic anime character

Postby rocklobster » Wed Feb 21, 2007 5:38 am

Like it says. Who do you think is the most heroic anime character. Here's my list:
1. Kenshin Himora--do I have to explain?
2. Kagome Higashi--watch as she sacrifices herself to save Kikyo, a person she should have every reason to let die.
3. Kira Yamato--He chose to pilot the Gundam for a very good reason--to protect those he cared about the most.
4. Vash the Stampede--see Kenshin
5. Spike Spiegel--Spike knew he was going to die when he went to rescue Julia, and he didn't even care.
6. Quatre Winner--Gundam SeeD's most compassionate robot pilot. Nuff said.
7. Gutts--C'mon, the dude faced down 100 soldiers all by himself. If that's not heroism, I don't know what is!
8. Sailor Moon--OK, she's clumsy. But I think she's one of the most human anime heroines.
9. Nausicaa--Heck, she even inhales some of the toxin to save her people.
Anyone else?
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. I appointed you to be a prophet of all nations."

Wolfgang Grimmer, all the way. Tenma may be the main character, and certainly heroic, but its in his nature. Grimmer's unfeeling, can't register true emotions, and he's still a better person than multiple other characters in the series who are right nasty people despite having no such burden. Guy's a sociopath and a Samaritan.

You just won the Internetz.

I wholeheartly agree with the above statements. Nobody from ANY anime (And I mean any other series) is more heroic than Wolfgang Grimmer.

The rest of the Heroes are just stereotypical archetypes. Wolfgang is legit to the max.

1.Kiddy Phenil (Silent Mobius),Sacrifices herself in order to redeem her best friend.
2.Kagome Higurashi(Inuyasha),for the reason that rocklobster gave and also because she stayed bt Inuyasha's side even when she knew how he felt about Kikyo.
3.Kazuki Yotsga 'Sanada'(Dual),he didn't have to take over Hertzinen when Yayoi was wounded or look for medicine and bandaids when he found her wounded, and
he certainly had no right to save Ms Ra when she fell off the building.
4.-5.Jinto & Lafiel(Crest/Banner of the Stars)
6.Lain(Serial Experiments Lain),She gave her own future up to allow her best friend Alice to have a better one, even though Alice no longer would remember her.
7.Spike(Cowboy Bebop)
8.Rachel Moore(Case Closed),She remains loyal to Jimmy and takes care of Conan even though she doesn't know they're one and the same.
9.Toka(Boogiepop Phantom)
10.Keita(Betterman)
11.Asahina(RahXephon),gave her life for her love of Ayato

Ah, yes, Wolfgang Grimmer. One of my favorite characters all around.

I'd say that begs the question of what it means to be heroic. Cutting down 100 people is just murder without context. If I recall, Gutts did that particular feat in a normal wartime situation... for me that isn't as heroic as if he had fought them without his extensive experience and massive sword for a reason like protecting people he doesn't know.

True Heroism is doing right no matter the wrong. I suppose out of all of them, Vash definitely tops the list in a tie if not all by himself. I still say Parn, though.

Meroko (Full Moon wo Sagashite) could be considered pretty heroic. If we're saying the definition of a hero is someone who puts someone else's needs before their own, the Meroko is an excellent example.
Not only did she try to remind Takuto of his memories of Mitsuki when she could just have easily said that he had been in love with her the whole time, but she also put her own life on the line to protect Mitsuki in the end. I think that's pretty heroic, even if she's not really a stereotypical "hero" figure.
That's all that comes to mind for now. XD
