Manga reccomendations

Postby wiggins » Mon Mar 01, 2004 11:45 am

Hi, I just thought I would ask for some manga reccomendations:
I have Zoids, and Angelic Layer. And I am going to get Azumanga Daioh soon.

Are there any other good mangas that could be reccomended?

Please also tell me a bit about FLCL, Full Metal Panic, and Trigun, and their pros and cons, and (I know I have this thing about this) if it is anti-Christian in any way (cos' if it is, I won't read it).

Thanks!

fruits basket
these are some of my favs . . . really good fun deep stories ^_^

Haven't seen the FLCL and Trigun mangas. FMP, though: Pro- Good story, interesting mix of action and comedy. Con- Main plot is somewhat loosely threaded throughout the first three volumes (the only ones available); at what point things come to a head is unknown.

That said, I'd highly recommend it. (5/5 stars, bars, whatever.) Not anti-Christian; says very little about any religion at all, actually.
To all, life thou givest, to both great and small.
In all life, thou livest, the true life of all.
We blossom and flourish as leaves on a tree
And wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.

Never seen the FLCl manga, but I've read Trigun 1 and 2. There isn't anything really wrong with it, the way I see it.....Hmm.....

I'd recommend Magic Knight Rayearth, Naruto, One Piece, Trigun, Ranma 1/2 (maybe...) I don't read as much manga as I'd like to. >.<

The terrifying moldy bread incident! In elementary school, Yomi's leftover bread started rotting inside her desk! you can't imagine what happened! Not only that, but the mold had a will of its own, it was terrible! Barricading ourselves in the science prep room, we used spirit lamps and engaged in combat! Then I realized it!! If we only had the bottle of mildew remover from the bathroom, we could destroy them!!

Everyone on the list has made excellent recommendations so far! Here are my favorite picks:

Fushigi Yuugi

Naruto

Magic Knights Rayearth

Ayashi no Ceres (aka Ceres Celestial Legend)

Trigun

Chobits

El Hazard

All titles are rather tame but as previously stated, some of them have some "fan service". If you want bang for your buck, I suggest picking up "Shonen Jump" - they run series in the monthly magazine. It's rather thick and has LOADS of information as well as being devoted to Manga. :thumb: Good luck in finding ones you like!

Ack! My apologies then. Well, you can do one of two things: ask someone from the United States to send you Shonen Jump or email/call Shonen Jump themselves and see if they are willing to ship over-seas. Anything is worth a try!

I am very sorry, I did not even notice your location was in London. Sorry!

Ranma 1/2 (maybe...) I don't read as much manga as I'd like to. >.<
I wouldn't recommend that one because it has full frontal female torsal nudity. Wouldn't recommend chbits either. The on/off switch. :o
That said. The Big O is good.

I have read Full metal panic and Seen the Fumoffu Full metal panic ( fansub)...Personally I love the Full metal panic...very funny...so far I don't see anything that is against God...I mean not really.

Manga recommendations :

Brain powered
. hack legend
Fruit basket -has some really good values
Trigun
Rurouni Kenshin- awesome manga, also great values
Brigaddon
Naruto- has some eastern mysticism (chakras, ninja skills and gives explanation of chakras but i skip that part and the rest is really good and amusing )
Chronicles of the Curse Sword- has demons, sorcery...its ok
Rave
Realbout Highschool

Bleh! I don't recommend EDEN: It's an endless world by Hiroki Endo to the rest of the populace. Only people with strong guts and are ready for mature content, it is a very challanging and real-life manga. Check it out anyway though

http://www.kodanclub.com/cgi-local/comic.cgi?id=009-00023-01-006 this just has a preview and a summary, nothing nastay

For something a bit better check here:
http://z-builder.com/manga/eden/index.html

WARNING!!! This manga is very close to real life!(except for the cyborg stuff) lots of nastay stuff in this manga so WATCH OUT!!! no fantasy stuff in here, it gives alot of real world examples of people in certain situations.
EDEN: It's an endless world.
