So basically, due to my older computer finally going kaput, lots of my mp3s went down with it. Well, fine, helps me minimize them and I'm trying to buy the CDs of them anyhow. But with my JPOPs... some of the version I'm not even sure if you can even BUY.
Anyhow, my friend and I both have similar Sony mp3 players (you know, those little circular ones) but, she encountered an error that wasn't good... She took some songs off my Sony Sonicstage and stuck on her mp3. When she went to her own comp, she did "add to library" but... all her mp3s were erased off her device!
I know I heard Mith make a post long time ago about Sony being so evil in this whole music/mp3 thing, that they stuck viruses on people's comps who did as much as rip the CDs (let alone burn). Well, it was a post from a long time ago anyhow, but close enough^^ But anyhow, I'm wondering if this mp3 thing is similar...
Anyone have an ideas or have the same mp3 and stuff? I really want to add the songs to my library at least, since some songs won't even play in Sonicstage in their format :/ But yeah, catious and scared about the deletion thing :/ I REALLY don't want to download Limewire or anything all over again, let alone track down all my songs (some of my CDs are still leant out too somewheres >_<) and tke a painful long time organizing them again :/

If your program can burn songs from the MP3 player to CD you could try burning songs from the player and putting them on a CD, then ripping that. If you get a virtual CD drive, that will work as well (and cut down on burned CDs) but this would be my suggestion. Burning to CD then ripping removes format problems and whatnot, so this is one way to deal with music you have trouble with that isn't convertible in the regular manner. If the music isn't copy protected, only in an odd format, you could try dbPower Amp music converter (the basic version is free) to change files into more usable formats. However, Sony does have a tendency to use heavy copy protection on their devices (a large part of the reason I use a Creative player myself), so dealing with that might be difficult at best.

You know, that sounds like a plan^^ And it's great that my CD burner gave me a free RW with it^^ Great and handy thing to use, it be^^
I think I just may try it out... sort of amusing how Sony has all that protection stuff, but by all means burn CDs of it!
What I WILL do first though, is make a small inventory list of everything on there, JUST in case of a possible misshap :/

SonicStage won't let you transfer files via an mp3 player. You'll have to bypass SonicStage.
