Give the game time to ship. I never go into stores on the release day if I want a particular game. It usually takes one or two days for the game to arrive...

the game arrives today doesn't it? well anyways, i checked a game review to see what the storyline was about and it looked pretty interesting (never really played those games where a female character assumes the main role). anyways, i'll probably be buying this game and Okami (when the price goes down) soon. i have like 250$ to Circuit City because my aunt got me an i-pod video 30 GB for christmas and i don't really listen to music and i'm not a big fan of i-pods so my dad brought it back...

Being a guy that almost always buys the games he really wants on release, EB's and Gamestops nine times out of ten get them on the release day that's designated by the company. It's your big retailers like Walmart, Circuit City, BestBuy, etc that get them a couple days to a week later.

Huh. We must have gone to get different games then.
The games I've gone to get on release were generally stocked about one day after at Gamestop.

FF12 arrived the exact day scheduled, but Kingdom Hearts II didn't come out three days after the release date.

I wonder why. I assume they were both equal in high anticipation.

I forgot and didn't check in at my work :/ Meh, I'll just wait till it goes on sale for like, 10 bucks cheaper from another store and then price compare (yay that, discount, and gift cards!!^^)

But with games, haven't really noticed with the release dates. With movies, like most places, we get those like, almost a week before release date, although some come in later than others (probably just our store and stuff). It varies, as with games, is all^^

Many games have a 'day to ship', not a 'day of release' -- Day of release is usually accurate, day of shipment is usually a day or two off.

Ok. Here's how gaming release dates work:

There are currently two types of releases.

1. This is your normal, run of the mill release. The game ships on the "release date" and will typically arrive in stores for purchase in the afternoon of the day following the "release date". In truth, this "release date" is merely a shipping date.

2. This is your high end, AAA, console moving titles. The release date on these are the "street date" Meaning that the game arrives in stores up to two weeks before they can be sold. The retailers must sign a "do not sell until" agreement with the company that is distributing the game. In this case, you get the game the day of.

In short, a good thing to ask when you are pre-ordering a game is, "What's the release date?" and, "Is that the ship date or the street date?". This will allow you to get your game as soon as possible and possibly save you a trip to the store.

It's very possible the clerk you talked to was a nimrod and they actually had 60 copies in the back. This kind of thing tends to happen in retail.

What would the point of that be? It works for the GBA for a number of reasons:

1. It's more affordable (i.e., I may actually be able to buy it).
2. Sony doesn't have the rights to VI, I don't think, since it premiered on the SNES.
3. There's no need for a revamped graphics change, and there's already a console-based remake with eye-candy FMVs.

Because seeing the world of FF6 in 3D would make the FF6 universe complete.

Yeah, it works for GBA, but I still want it to be on Ps3 with a remastered soundtrack and good VAs.

Sorry for dreaming big.

Well, I won't be able to get it today. Got night classes and wasn't able to use the car to get down to the mall, since my mom got home from work at about 6 tonight and I had to go straight to class. I will be picking it up tommorow after I find one more game to trade in..... *begins to contiplate which game he should get rid of.*

VAs would kill the game. It takes away the personality of whom I envision the characters to be, and how they sound.

While I would LOVE to see a faithful 3D FF6 game, in no way would it compare to the true original.

I don't know. If they use their usual studios, it should turn out fairly well. As long as they don't use random celebrities to voice characters, anyway...
But such a point is moot, as I doubt that they will remake it anytime soon. If anything gets remade, it's probably going to be VII.

They're better off making like an FF4 or FF6 remake. It would have more of the "Newer" fans enjoying some of the older titles.
