i will admit that i ended up getting into anime because of dragon ball z. :p my brother started watching it around the freza saga and i thought it was the stupidest cartoon i ever saw till i decided to sit down and watch it. from there my brother started watching inuyasha and i thought it was stupid again until i started watching it and it became my fav. anime. so after taht i just watched what ever came on after inuyasha until i decided to start buying it and so on.

One of my friends got really into it, and didn't have anyone to talk to about it. Well, I told her that I'd listen, and she talked me into watching a night of adult swim. Inuyasha didn't quite hook me, but Cowboy Bebop was next and I was forever sold - it was the Waltz for Venus episode, I think 8, with Roco Bonnaro and his blind sister - still one of the best episodes in all of anime in my opinion. Then came Trigun, Haibane Renmei, lesser things like Yu-Gi-Oh!, subscriptions to Shonen Jump, and these wonderful thin dvd box sets for a quarter of the price for all those $30 dvds with four eps. It was pretty amazing, really.

the very first anime pic i saw was sailor moon in a magazine....i was a kid so it freaked me out when i saw those girls with really big eyes....i guess the very first anime i watched was sonic underground, but i didn't know what anime was at the time....then i watched digimon (i'm sorry i just couldn't get with pokemon if you paid me)...still didn't know what anime was...then my mom found this article in a christian newsletter saying that pokemon and digimon was evil, so me trying to be obediant to my parents, i strayed away from anything with big eyes, cute creatures, and kanji on the screen....then one night my brother was up at night watching....you'll never guess...gundam wing, i watched it with him and fell in luv with the show then we moved to japan and that's when i started to realize what anime was, i watched kindaichi, transformers, hikaru no go, naruto, etc....then i was officially hooked (true story :dizzy: )
Beware...I have an attitude and I'm not afraid to use it. :shady:

Well, when I was really little I watched superbook, but only like once or twice. Then, we went to visit some relatives and they watched Speed Racer. I was enraptured, but I still didn't know it was anime. Then, a few years later, my brothers and I got hooked on the Saturday morning Pokemon. And yet, through all this time, I STILL didn't know what anime was. :eyeroll: Somewhere during the Pokemon phase, I went to see a movie with my friend, and I saw a preview for Spirited Away. And the rest is history. :thumb:

Well, l started with Noozles back in my childhood, but didn't realize it was anime until much, much later! Then I went through my Pokemon phase, which then blossomed into Digimon--and it stayed that way until one night when I discovered Adult Swim...back when Yu-Yu-Hakusho first premiered...the first episode actually...

That was my first exposure to REAL anime! What really took me by suprise was the fact that the main character (I know his name, but I refuse to spell it!) started cursing like a salor! Then came Bebop, Outlaw Star, and Pilot Candidate...after that...I was hooked!

The first anime show I ever saw - and liked - was Hamtaro. I watched it on Cartoon Network, but I had no idea what anime was at the time. After that, I really got into Piano. It very much intrigued me, as I had never seen an animated show that so accurately portrayed daily life. After that, I began browsing around on the Right Stuf website and started researching anime. So... I guess that's how I got into it. =)

I used to watch Speed Racer on Cartoon Network when I was really little. (Of course, I didn't know it was anime at the time.) After I started school, their were quite a few people who talked about DBZ during school almost all the time. I never really got into it that much thou I did watch a few episodes. My brother then showed me an anime called Medabots when I was 13 and I liked it quite a bit. This was the first show I watched and actually knew it was an anime. After a short hiatus, mostly for not having the ability to watch any due to loss of monitary income and cable, I began to rent DVD's from my local Blockbuster (Trigun and Record of Lodoss War to be exact). I became hooked shortly after starting these series and began to look into others like .hack, Black Cat, Rurouni Kenshin, Trinity Blood, and others.

Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Zoids, and Digimon were defiantly influential for many anime fans, as well as Dragon Ball Z, though not so much for me.

That was when from 2nd to 5th grade. In sixth and seventh, nothing special happened, but I really got back into the swing of things last year, when I went through half of FMA and watched a load of Inuyasha. I even asked my mom to sign me up for the local anime club, but since she's so cautious about everything, she never actually did. Oh well, I didn't miss out on much.

Well, it's kinda embarrassing, but I started out as a Pokemon (dub) fan as a kid, but I grew out of it. In high school, I was introduced to Megatokyo by a friend (and a fanboy incidentally) who told me about all the references it had to anime. I read it (and still do) in college, where a different friend was watching Battle Doll Angelic Layer (last 4 episodes) and I was really touched by the ending. I went out and bought the set to see the rest of it, 2.5 years later, I've now seen/read at least 25-30 series and here I am!

Nothing to be embarrassed about, we all watched it at one point or another. I remember watching some Speed Racer, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Digimon, Dragonball, Gundam Wing, and etcetera when I was young, naive, and impressionable.

Don't worry about it.

I've been into anime about... 8 years? When I was nine or ten I saw an episode of Sailor Moon on Cartoon Network. I didn't really start watching it daily though. Then on Saturday mornings my brother and I would Watch Pokemon. Once that habit was established, I saw Sailor Moon again and started watching it regularly. From there, I watched other animes that toonami aired, until I 'graduated' (in 2005) to adult swim 's anime and beyond. I love it and the list of anime I've watched keeps growing.

My story is the same as many others. I saw Sailor Moon on TV (before Cartoon Network.... don't even know what station was airing it back then...) then Dragonball Z, Pokemon, etc.

Rurouni Kenshin was the first anime series I liked enough to get obsessed over =P

My friend I met in 8th grade told me about jrock and anime and I scoffed at how stupid it must be. Ever since the first time I watched Princess Mononoke and listened to X Japan's Endless Rain, I have been hooked to both jrock and anime. Never again will I judge things by looks!

My first anime show was probably Sailor Moon, but I also enjoyed watching Pokemon in '98 and Digimon in '99. I also liked Escaflowne when it was briefly on Fox Kids.

No one show in particular got me into anime, but I think that I enjoyed Digimon and Card Captor Sakura because they had at least some character development, unlike Pokemon (sorry to all former and current Pokemon fans!)
