wah! it won't play anymore v_v

So, I decided to continue playing my Legend of Dragoon onto my PS2. Now, I know my disks are already pretty scratched up from where I got them from (I didn't do it^^), but that was never a problem. What DID happen once before was that there was a bit of a reading glitch on a couple parts of the game where it would just freeze during play. Now I can't even get it to turn on because it's making all sorts of loud scratchy noices from the reader, and simply cannot read the disk :/ I tried out all the other 3 disks, and 1 and 4 were fine, and 3 wouldn't work either (and hardly has any scratches on it). So... any clue? Should I borrow my friend's PS again to try to play it on there, is it the disks themselves I have to replace (even though they only decided to do this now and worked perfectly fine before...)? It's a fun game that I'm wanting to beat, and being half way done already, not cool that it decides to do this now v_v

Well, looks like since I'm in a gaming mode and have other thigns that I own to still beat, I guess I can keep going with Kingdom Hearts 2 until I figure this problem out... (was planning on continuing it right after because I hardly got far into KH2, unlike LoD).

Have you tried cleaning the discs yet? Give them a good wash, in fact do it twice...soap, rinse...soap, rinse...dry with something soft, like a sock or kleenex. Just make sure when you rub the discs, to wipe from the center hole straight toward the outter edge (don't go circular). I hope this works. Almost all my disc problems were from dirty discs.

Oh so you can just use regular soap and water? I heard you had to use some special solution...

a soft washcloth with a little bit of windex or other glass cleaner would be a better idea than an actual soap.

Both work. It just has to be something that will remove grease and dirt without leaving residue. If you use a glass cleaner though, make sure it's one that's safe for plastics.

Well, here's the update:

Windexed both disks and they now can load, but I still hear those loading skipping noises and won't read >_< I just don't get it... it worked totally fine (except for that glitch) before... I have not the slightest clue why it would randomly decided to stop reading/working >_<

If it comes down to it, you can always buy another copy here.

As you can see, getting your hands on a new one is relatively inexpensive. :)

Hmmm, well if it had a glitch before, perhaps it was due to a delamination-like defect when it was stamped and with time and use it got worse. But I am surprised that both discs are behaving this way though...still I don't know what else to tell ya, sorry.

One thign I do know, is that this glitch is apparently very common with this game, and using a PS reader off a PS2 (in fact, the main problem I had in this one part was common too, and found on some sites others that had the problem).

I guess what I'll do before I go out to buy another disk, is use my friend's PS and see if makes any difference... that's what I had to do before to bypass the one glitch.
