You know, strangely, I wasn't really as weirded out by
Sensei's confession as most people.
Here's why I think that was:
Frankly, why is Shuu-chan and Hagu any different than Mayama and Rika? It's pretty obvious that he hasn't been some kind of creepy closet lover her whole life. Upto the last year or so, he was still going to Morita when she was in a despondent artist's slump. He was sending others to her as he main means of comfort. I think, however, some time in that last year, perhaps even as late as the time period of Hagumi's rehab, he realize that the only person who was really ready to give up everything for her was him. Morita was gone. Takemoto, despite his love for her, could not understand her completely. Shuuji is the only one who is truly able and willing to give up everything for her.
I'm not really sure what his relationship with Hagu is. I don't really think he's actually her "uncle". The talk about Hagu's father didn't sound like the kind of discussion a man would have about his brother. I mean, I coudl be wrong, but I wonder if he might be a more distant relation that than. (Think about how all the Sohmas are "cousins" but it doesn't seem that any of their parents are siblings.)
Overall, it is still odd, but the truth is-- while Shuuji may love Hagu romantically, I don't really think his feelings for her really "sexual", if that doesn't sound ridiculous. I mean, I think he knows she loves Morita, but his feelings for her are more than platonic.
In essence-- it is weird, but I don't think it's pedophilia or anything. I'm crushed that Hagu isn't with Morita, but, honestly, I'm not entirely sure if she might not end up with him one day. If he had come to her with the attitude with which he addressed her in episode 11 when he hand had been healed, I think she would have accepted him. Who knows.
BTW, I plan to write an essay style piece on my thoughts concerning Shuuji, Hagumi, and why things had to end up how they did. I'll probably post a link to it later for anyone who feels like reading it.
And just for fun, let me throw in that I thought it was absolutely hillarious when Yamada is talking to Sensei and she spears him with "A man despite his years" and "Basically out of the equation." That was, without question, one of the funniest gags this season.

So, um, yeah.
Ashley wrote:I LOVE Morita! From episode 1 he was always hilarious to me. I think my favorite of his scenes, though, has to be the "Shinobu put the nin back in ninja!" And the twister game, of course, during which I almost peed my pants. Although I think honestly Yamada is my favorite character. I can relate to her (emotionally not in terms of her physique, I'm afraid XD) more than anyone else. And Osaka, Myrrh, I'm sorry but I really do like Takemoto. =P
Welcome, Ashley, into the magical world of Hachikuro, the greatest Shoujo anime EVER! BWA HA HA!
We'll forgive you somehow for your attachment to Takemoto.
No, really, by the end of the series, I really did like him. But I still did not think he was the man for Hagumi. I stand by that. Until, um, forever. XD
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill.
Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.
Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.
But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality,
