RPG recommendations...
yeah. i'm looking for a new game to play. an RPG to be exact. however, i'm quite impatient with video games and i'm looking for an RPG that's not too hard, but not exactly the easiest. an RPG that doesn't lose one's interest too quickly and doesn't take forever to beat. the type of RPG you can beat before you start to lose interest in the game. so yeah. if you can recommend an RPG for either gamecube, ps2, or gba, that'd be great.

Hmmm, for the GC its the tactical rpg called Fire Emblem path of radiance. I found it amuseing and inntresting at times, though I am not sure everyone shares my opinion.

Your criteria is somewhat vague. What are some examples of RPGs you have liked/played? What type of RPGs do you prefer?
Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria and Tales of the Abyss just came out in the US, but Silmeria is supposed to be fairly difficult, and TotA should probably be about the length of the average RPG.
Riviera: The Promised Land for the GBA is good, but fairly unconventional in certain aspects of gameplay so everyone isn't necessarily going to like it.
The Fire Emblem series is great, but it all depends on whether or not you are good at strategy and taking advantage of the game's systems.
Also, how much cash are you willing to spend?

yeah. after i made my post, i sorta felt that i should've posted some RPGs i've played and enjoyed. anyways, here's a list of RPG games i've played:
golden sun one and two - beat and loved
mario and luigi supersaga - beat the game and loved it.
fire emblem, f.e. sacred stones, and path of radiance - beat and enjoyed (not that much of a strategy game fan however)
ffx - got fairly fair through the game before i gave up because the boss was too hard and annoying.
kingdom hearts - got fairly fair through the game before i gave up because the enemies were too strong and i got stuck.
tales of symphonia - didn't even get to the second disk before i stopped playing it because it was sorta boring and i was stuck.
ffVIII - got about halfway through the second disk before i stopped playing it because it lost my interest.
xenosaga - didn't get that far in this game. too challenging, the movies are too long, the battle system's unusual (to me), the game was simply not the type of game i enjoyed.
so yeah. that's why i'm asking for a shorter RPG that's not too challenging but still interesting. as for cash, any game around $30 or less please. i'm not that big of a money spender. if it's an interesting game that's too expensive, i just wait til the price goes down.

If you have no problems with religious themes and dated graphics, pick up Lunar. It's only about 20 hours long.
Edit: Grandia II is awesome, but the Dreamcast version is way better than the PS2 version. Good luck finding a copy though. I have one, but my DC drive crapped out on me.

After reading the list of RPGs you like, I'm even more certain you will like it.
I have never played the DreamCast version and have always wondered how it was superior?
The PS2 version is an amazing game, so I'd LOVE to the see the DC version.
It's not too challenging at all and is VERY interesting. I only got stuck on one boss andt hat was because I was underleveled.

I'd recommend a fair number of the titles already listed here, but to get another type of RPG entirely:
Paper Mario 2 (or 1, if you have a 64)
If you want a game that isn't too difficult and is fairly light overall, this is a good choice. Yet it still has a certain amount of strategic depth and there are some optional challenges that are rather difficult. Because of how involved you are in the combat system (which is turn-based but also includes elements of skill) things remain involving despite the sometimes low difficulty level. Plus, for me at least, the games are simply fun.

FFX, hard? What boss were you stuck on? A good RPG if you have a SNES is Earthbound. I've played for almost 3 days now, and am throughly obsessed.

The differences are all visual. To quote the IGN review: "The PS2 port takes a mild hit in terms of texture quality, especially in less conspicuous background areas, and it's a good deal rougher around the edges, with a bit more aliasing and a lot more interlace flicker in certain areas."
I think they're being overly nice with that statement, but the whole thing can be summed up as: the DC visuals are a LOT cleaner.

well, i got stuck on yunalesca. i could never beat her third form. my friends said that holy would make it a lot easier to beat her but the whole time, i was borrowing my friends ffx and he wanted it back so i never got a chance to beat it.

It took me a week, but that was a week where we got an entire week off of school because there was a snowstorm and the snow piled on the ground was 2 feet high.

As UC said, Paper Mario is great, especially the GC one.
If you have a GBA/DS, try one of the Mario and Luigi games, as they're both quite fun and unique as well.
Another good one for GBA would be Sigma Star Saga. It should be pretty cheap now (got mine used for $10), but it's still a pretty unique and fun game. All random battles and boss battles are ship battles, kind of like Gradius. It's pretty good. =o

Ah. If you liked the original then I strongly recommend Thousand Year Door. I felt it was superior in basically every respect without losing the qualities of the first (though there may be a few preferential things). Improved combat system, slightly more depth as far as strategy goes, a solid plot (whether it is better is a matter of opinion).
Plus, they removed the Level 30 cap. I blitzed through it and didn't have much time for other challenges, but I'm sure that this would add significantly to the play value after the end of the game.

okay. i'll be sure to remember thousand year door whenever i find myself in a situation where i don't have any video games to play. religious themes aren't that big of a deal to me as long as they aren't too extreme. i mean, i can put up with the "magic" content in most of your RPGs but there is a line for me.

Well, as far as the religion thing goes, I can't tell you anything without giving out spoilers. Just keep in mind, it takes place in a fictional world and nothing that happens there is real.
The only thing I can tell you that is covered in the opening movie is that a God of Light and Darkness battled each other. The God of Light used his sword and cut a giant valley in the Earth that created a canyon believed to have destroyed the God of Dark.
There is a religious movement in the game that follows the teachings of the Lord of Light, Granas. The main character is a mercenery that is hired to transport one of the preistesses to a certain area so a ritual can commence.
That's all I can give away.
