OK.. that anime is totally weird... I saw the first four episode, since they only put 2 episodes per DVD :mutter: :mutter: (view my reply in "question about fansubs")
But as you can see (the avatar) I liked it, which is weird since I don't usually like anime comedy...

I haven't seen it, but this show is coming to Cartoon Network very soon (near the beginning of next month) and I'll be watching it when it comes there. I heard that there is some objectionable content in it, but probably PG-13 at most (from what I read).

I read an article earlier, but I don't have a link to it. I forgot about that article and I saw one of those pre commerical things that said FLCL was coming to CN. Here is a link to the official Cartoon Network schedule that shows the dates of the first episodes of FLCL.

Ah, good ol' Fooly Cooly (Furi Kuri). I have seen 6 episoides of it. Now if you are planning to watch it here are some tips on what the 'objectable' stuff in it.

Violence - this is episode by episode. There's mech fighting in each episode but a few go a little beyond. In one, the entire thing revolves around gunfighting. There's no blood but many people are shot at point blank range. In another episode there's some blood and we see a man's decapitated head. There's also a lot of romance/comedy type violence.

Sex - Again very hard to talk about since it's episodic. Some have little but others are jam packed. I'll go episode by episode.

At the beginning a girl hangs on a guy in a very sexual way and says "I'm going to overflow", and in an insane manga panel scene a boy is accused of fondling a girl
little to none
this is one of the heavier episodes. A girl sleeps at Naota's house and tries to coerce him into having sex with her. I believe there's also an erection joke. During the final battle there's a joke where the girls pants come off and they try desperatly to put them back on
None to be mentioned except one may take the ending as a metaphor for an orgasm
Naota's dad tries to have sex with a women numerous times but is always unsuccesful. One girl is also in a towel for the first few minutes. There's a joke where the father jumps at her crotch but a boxing glove comes out and knocks him away
Naota tries to kiss a girl and someone says I love you to another person. In another insane manga panel scene a man streaks across the screen nude but has a mosaic covering his crotch.

Nudity - only 2 occasions of a butt crack

language - just **** and hell

Hope that helps out people. Maybe they will edit some stuff out on AdultSwim, on CTN.

I watched it a long time ago and I'll still feeling confused. I loved the animation, creativity, and voice acting (go go Hayashibara!! XD), but like Kenchii said, alot of sexual jokes.

Some scenes are quite blunt like Haruko eating a semi-fried egg with Naoto's dad and itu comes off very sexual (moaning, licking, etc).

And this anime is EXTREME--everything is in hyperbole. Lol, my brain was futilely trying to keep up with the scenes, plot, and jokes... especially when you're watching the subs ^^;; (Especially the "manga moments")

About the little sexual issue in anime, here's my opinion:
I think there's nothing wrong with making jokes about sex, as long as it doesn't become pornographic.
I mean, it's now part of today's everyday life and it's also human nature, while porno is more like a replacement, which isn't good...
If God made us that way, than I don't think there should be any shame about it. Even though there's always a limit, like everything else has...
Anyway that's the way I see it, so don't come knocking at my door holding torches.

*shrugs* I'm also not quite sensitive to sexual stuff but then again, He warns us away from temptation and whether a person likes it or not, it will most likely induce lust (depends on each person).

And when lust is induced, a person most likely will go around looking for more and more then end up looking for hardcore stuff. Those addicted to pornography start out at small things like lingerie magazine, etc.

And just for the record, God only approves of sexuality in the context of marriage. I mean, just lusting and thinking dirty thoughts is automatically a sin. So isn't it best to keep away from things that may cause us to sin?

Reality is a spiritual obstacle course, a little warning to prepare ahead for the slightest of bumps can do wonders ;)

Yecch. What a waste of 30 minutes. Fanservice, a musical mech growing out of someone's (Naota's) head due to fanservice, and more fanservice. ^sigh^

I've heard of pointless before, but unless FLCL is some kind of artistic mockery of other anime that relies on filler and fanservice, it is stupid. Incredibly stupid.

Sorry if I've offended any FLCL fans here, this is just. . .yech.

Well, maybe it was just me, but I didn't get it. I watched until the first commercial break and decided to go back to the Don Knotts movie we were watching in the first place. Yup, I'm not caring much for this new lineup.

Serious? FLCL is "serious"? Lol, they just threw in the usual teen-angst and un-answerable questions of the universe (unless they go to the Scriptures). Real serious and dramatic stories are the type to put viewers to sleep rather than throw them into confusion. Well, at least that's what I gathered from anime. XD Jin-Roh, Millienium Actress, now THOSE are serious and dramatic animes....

FLCL gets more confusing along the way, so unless you enjoy alternative anime you might want to find something else to watch. ^^

I rented the last DVD last week. I saw that most ppl here didn't like, but accually I did.
One thing though, until the last episode, the serie doesn't seem to really have a "story". But everything is explained in the last episode, so it's a lot of info said very very quickly...

all i can say is the show is either drug induced or its way too intelectualy oriented for me to handle. either way its over my head and i cant understand anyof it. that aside the animation is by far the best i think ive seen out side of macross zero.
hmm ill have to see that last episode to figure it out or either give up trying.

From what I read, the dub is very good and the voices are very similar to the originals, so you don't have to worry too much about trying to read subtitles that go by too fast. However, I haven't seen the subtitles and I only seen two episodes. I like the series so far, but I have to see all six episodes to know for sure if I like the series.

I think the writer of FLCL was doing the "mushroom samba" when he came up with this idea ~.^

:stressed: I just don't see what people like about FLCL. No defined plot until the sixth episode, lots of IMHO pointlessly stupid fanservice in every episode. . .to me, it's not even funny. It's even more insane than parody fanfiction (which can get VERY insane) and it just makes me wonder how people can get paid for writing something like it.

I have to agree with MillyFan on this one. I set the recorder and watched a couple of episodes. It reminded me of Medabots on some very bad drugs. I don't think I will worry about setting the recorder for the rest.
