What do you think is better. Japanese manga or japanese anime

It really depends: I personally like manga better for various reasons: 1) I prefer 'still' pictures 2) Drawing manga is easier than creating anime 3) Reading manga is far quicker than watching anime, so I waste less time 4) Many anime titles are derived from manga, so I'd rather read the original stuff than to read it the 'butchered' anime version (i.e fillers, not-so-great artworks).
On the other hand, I like the anime for the following: 1) Great action scenes and music score with it accompanied with it 2) Anime that originally started with the 'anime' version (e.g. Cowboy Bebop) 3) Beautiful animated artwork
Of course, what I've stated is just "in general" and just my opinion. ^_^

Hmmm this is tough!
I really like manga cause you get to read and re read and get to see the images in still and to see the artwork close up, and the stories are great too. i like anime cause if the story and animation are good you get realy into it. I think they are both really good and when, in the same anime, you have a slight change in the storyline then it makes it even better and they compliment eachother so you get a better idea of things!

Anime. Manga requires reading (which I don't like lol).
But honestly I never gave it any thought to pick up a manga and read it. Hmm...

It really depends on anime / manga, but usually I choose manga.

Like harina said, it depends on the series in question. ^_^ I like both, so if it's something I really liked, I'll buy the anime and the manga. But, anime is expensive, so my manga collection is way bigger than my anime collection.

It totally depnds on who you are and what you like. I personally like manga more for many reasons. 1) Cheaper. I don't have 25 bucks to fork over for 4 episodes of a drawn out anime. 2) I have younger siblings who are around, and I have more freedom in what I read because they wont' read it. When I'm watching something, they are pretty much hanging around. If I buy anime, it has to be something a nine year old could see, but as far as manga goes-- it's really just restricted by what I myself feel I can read. 3) I can look through a manga in a book store to decide if I want to buy it. I can't do this with anime. Also, there are some mangas I would never buy, but I would read in a book store. Since our Blockbuster only stocks the "you need an I.D. to rent this title" anime-- I don't have the option to watch anime I'm not willing to buy.
That's why manga is just more practical for me.

My job requires a great deal of reading so when I get home I would rather put the DVD in and watch. True, if I do watch an anime in subtitled format I have to read, but I do a lot of dub watching.

Manga! manga! Manga!
Anime comes close.
With anime their are time constraints
With manga you give your imagination time to percolate...

i like anime better... this isn't always the case, but in general it seems like the anime is more detailed than manga... but not always

I like both. What I don't like is when they botch an anime and make it completely different from the manga. I really like anime for the action sequences, if it has worthwhile art, music, and you can hear the people talk! xD
Manga, I can see it in my head. I like manga because it comes straight from the creator. Not other people. *cough*rurounikenshin*cough* I like the artwork in it. *sigh*
I like both. Is that allowable? o.o
