Hello again everybody! So, I just watched the ending of an ep of this anime and I'm wondering what its about. I also wanted to know why Conan's voice sounds a lot older when he's thinking. I'm really confused.
Can anyone clear things up??

His voice is lower because he isn't really a kid. He's a grown man who shrunk into a little boy because...well, I can't remember the details very well because it's been years since I watched Conan. I think someone kidnapped him and did something rather unpleasant to him to make that change. Anyway, he's like a man who's stuck in the body of a kid, so to speak.

Ohhh. That explains it. So, does he turn back and forth in the series or what?

No. He stays a kid, I believe, but I've only seen a few episodes on Adult Swim.

In the manga, Conan has to use the voice alternator to change his voice into the original Shinichi voice (especially while talking on the phone to Ran). This tells me that Conan retained a kid's voice, while being kid-size.

Er, in the anime he uses his "older" voice everytime he thinks inside his head and/or to the audience (which does have a rather nice effect...like a reminder of sorts) but he uses his "kid" voice when he speaks to the other characters in the show. I think that's what Hope was asking about. ^^
I just love the tension between him and Ran. Especially when she hugs Conan or something. XD It's hilarious.

Yeah that's true. It's always nice to be reminded that Conan is not some super ultra genius little kid. I feel bad for Ran and admire her at the same time. Her relationship with Shinichi seems 'long distance' for her but in true reality (or irony), Shinichi is way closer to her than she would have allowed him in his original teenager form. ^_^;;; (i.e. all the kid-hugging, sleeping in the same bed and even bathing together 0.o) If Ran knew the truth, she'll be freaking out. LOL

What happend in the anime was that he was poisoned with some "regression" drug that turned him into a kid. That's all I know. I don't follow the series very closely.

It's on in the States Mon.-Th. on Adult Swim at 1:00 a.m. following
Inuyasha.
The reason why Conan,so far,has never revealed his true identity to
Rachel/Ran is because he believes that if she ever knew who he really
was it would put her in danger. Not that she isn't in any danger in any
case if you follow the show regularly.

To say he remains a kid through the entire series isn't exactly true. Although Conan hasn't found permanent cure for his 'youthful condition', in one episode (50?), he accidentally discovers a temporary antidote, allowing Jimmy to make a brief appearance. Whether his happens again though, I can't say. I haven't seen passed episode 55.

The time when Conan changed back to Jimmy involved alcholol and when he reverted back to being Conan he tried to repeat the experiment but
Rachel found him trying to get into Richard's liqour cabinet and gave him
a lecture on how bad the stuff was for little kids.
I often wonder how poor Amy would feel if Conan ever permenantly returned to normal. The poor girl is crushing on him really bad.
