If you could adapt your favourite book into an anime...

...what book would you choose?
Oh, this is one of those "dream" posts where you can explain the "hows" and "whys" you think this would make a good anime.
I've read a book called "The High House" by a new author called James Stoddard. Since it would be too darn complicated to make this fantasy into a feature length book, it could be nothing else but an animated movie. It is certainly one of the most imaginative books I've read.

Ohh! Yay! I would either turn Harry Potter (Not Sure Which Book) or the Young Jedi Knights series inot anime. Each one is very deep, and if turned into anime wouldn't be a simple little cartoon, made for teh kiddies, but would be full of quirks and characters rooted deep in the plot. Those would be the BEST! I feel like making a smiley line! JOIN ME!

Lord of the Rings defiently. Thiers always that one cartoon of LOTR which is fun to watch but not anime!
I am currently working and drafting up a manga version of LOTR (been so for like a year lol...very hard).
I'd like to see "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness" turned into anime.
I'd also like to see the book "Mary Shelly's Frakenstein" turned anime. I was just thinking "To Kill a Mocking Bird" would be rather intresting as a anime.

I think that Phillip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' triology, or Garth Nix's 'Abhorsen' series would be awesome as anime! They are both sci-fi/fantasy series, and just seem like they would convert to animation well. Also, any of Madeleine L'Engle's books would be great as anime, too, but that's just because they are too weird (SOME of them) to be real movies, but also because I love them all, especially 'The Young Unicorns' (which has nothing to do unicorns).

*Gasp* Thalia! I completely agree with you! Garth Nix's "Abhorsen" Trilogy would rock as an anime/manga! xD PM me sometime, and we could talk... o.o... but only if you want too... >>;;
I think that Tamora Pierce's Tortall series would be neat as anime/manga. That would be so... cool.
Ohk! Francine River's "The Mark Of the Lion" trilogy! Definitley! xD Oh man.. that would be so awesome!
Uhm... ::thinking:: I can't think of any others at the moment. If I think of any more, I'll post it. ::nod:: Alrighty then! Bye bye!

I would like to see Remnants by K.A. Applegate turned into an anime. I bet no ones heard much about this series, but I thought it was very good. And maybe Artemis Fowl, but thats allready going to be a live action movie so...I don't know. The series of unfortunate events is also going to have a live action movie to so same as Artemis Fowl I don't really know if it would be to cool. I think LOTR would be pretty cool to.

Is it allowed to be something I have written?
Never mind the previous question, I do not actually mean it. Foremost I would have to say an anime Lord of the Rings conversion could be extremely cool. I think that Lord of the Rings speaks for itself in relation to quality, and that an anime style would be an extremely interestin format.
Beyond that, another person has also suggested Frank Peretti's Darkness books. They'd be extremely fun to read, and would manage to be cool enough a non-Christian might even read them for other reasons.

I agree with what others have said; both Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings would make excellent anime. And considering there's such a huge fanbase in there in Japan anyway (HP and LotR are very popular in dojinshi) it may not be such a far-fetched idea.
As for K.A. Applegate, her Animorphs series may have been targeted for younger kids but they could still make an awesome, even spooky sci-fi anime. I've never read Remnants, though.

David Edding's books on Garion's journey. Medieval time, magic, war, you name it, but the characters are funny and memorable. I think the humour and some of the typical personalities would make it a good anime.

Yay! I'm not the only one who thought that.
Shakespeare would be pretty interesting, especially with the comedies. But then again, that's just me. I second Harry Potter and LOTR, and agree with the abundance of doujinshi, but most of what I've seen contains a lot of...um inappropriate sexual material, esp. with Harry Potter >_>

The Remnants series is targeted towards an older audience. It's not nearly as well known as Animorphs though. It would make a more mature anime.

I was thinking maybe The Giver by Lois Lowry might be an okay anime. I read that book like 20 times. It's really good.

Even if they make Harry Potter anime, it wouldn't technically be "anime", but none of these would be, I guess...I wouldn't spend one 1/100000000000000000000 cent on Harry Potter anyway...unless it was to burn it. Sorry about that, but I don't like Potter at all. I'm one of the people that is against it. Anyway, the Dragonriders of Pern would make a good Anime..er...yeah, Anime.

On the subject, no one will begin to argue about Harry Potter or related materials.
I think an anime of The Giver would be interesting, though short lived. Ultimately, however, I think I prefer it in the format of the book. Some types of excellence don't translate well in certain mediums.

Yes, an Anime of The Giver would most certainly be interesting, but probably too long. And in the book, I liked how the author described things...

No one said we were going to. I simply stated that I didn't like it. That is allowable, is it not?

I take back what I said earlier. The Giver and Gathering Blue would be even better!Kira and Jonas are your average, top-class bishoujo and bishounen. Respectively, of course.

The Narnia Chronicles by C.S. Lewis would make the best anime ever.

That would be interesting, at least quite unique.

You misunderstand, and speak out of place. However allowed it is to state that you do not like a specific topic (which is perfectly acceptable), there are certain individuals who never the less feel the need to argue with anyone making a statement that contradicts a belief of their own. My comment was merely intended to stop any
further discussion of the topic as an argument.

Unfortunately yes, but I doubt whoever holds the rights to LotR and Harry Potter would let any official anime be made that strays too far from the story, or goes along those lines...
