Lets see, about a month before it came out on Cartoon Network I rented the first DVD. IT ROCKED!! Then I found out it was playing on CT. I have since seen all of the eps. I really enjoyed the series because the witches were not people dabbling in black magic, but were people that supposedly just had their genes messed with. Although that circle of Oghram(sp?) stuff had me worried for a while. Then I found out that the circle and stuff are not real Witch equipment, and as an extra plus the only people who will be watching are older. Less chance of influencing the younger impressionable crowd. :)

Lucky color, black. Does anyone remember that line?

Unfortunately I have seen relatively little of Witch Hunter Robin, but I have enjoyed what I have seen up until this point. Enough that I read up on the subject, in any case.

It is a great line. So insignificant yet so memorable.
Same here, I just changed over my sock drawer for all black socks. . . I just like black for some reason. Goths seem cool, except I can't stand the whole despair thing. Too much light in my life for that.

Yes, Witch Hunter Robin is cool...I had to have a friend record all the episodes off of CT for me since I, sadly, don't get that channel (stupid hick-town cable!). It seemed to start out a bit slow for me, but it got really interesting later in the series...yes, and black IS a lucky color!!! ;)

I have seen very little of it, it's kinda cool with a cool sense of style. I just wonder if CN is going to play it again, see I love Cowboy Bebop. But I sure would like it if the network would play more Witch Hunter Robin, or better yet put Outlaw Star back on the air.

I just have to bring this up since we got on the subjuct of "Kuru ka?" (Black?)
Kurogane in Tsubasa is called "Kuru-san"(Mr. Black).. . .

Back on Subject though. Anybody else think Orbo is weird?

I am inept at remember violence levels, but I'll try. (I think I am desensitized)
If I remember right WHR doesn't have any bloody killings. Occasionally someone gets shot and there is a little blood, but as the good guys (are they really good?) use orbo in their guns, the enemies getting shot at look like they are being hit by paintballs.

When Robin attacks someone with fire, it seems more stylized than real so it was hard for me to not think of her attacks as cool.

Yeah I know that feeling, last summer my dad decide to drop cable. . . I don't want him to ever ever do that again. :)

I would agree, violence is generally minimal and stylized. There are a few episodes that could possible be more violent, but I haven't seen them.

The style is one of the things I like best about the show. It's themes are just so so, but they're done in such a manner that they work really well. Amon is also one of my favorite characters, though I have nothing wrong with Robin.

this is one of the best anime shows *ever*, no lie. watching it is like reading a book. the characters are all developed in extreme detail and no stereotypical or flat characters are here at all. The show is really not very violent - there are plenty of fight scenes, but there is no blood and no decapitation, severed limbs, etc. It is paced quite slowly, which could turn away some, but it really serves to draw you further into the story and really care about the characters. as a bonus, this is the only anime series i've ever seen with no fanservice whatsoever. :) also, the visual style is beuatiful, with detailed characters, backgrounds, and vehicles, as well as unique costume design that borrows heavily from Puritan tradition.

panegryst has done an excellant job of identifying many of the show's strong points. I'd suggest you watch it, Yojimbo. Actually, I like the slow pace, in that it lets the show appear more intellectual.

I liked the slow pace too. Also, some other animes with the slow pace are .hack//Sign and .hack//liminality. One of my most favorite series is .hack//sign, but I don't recomend the dub at all. Tsukasa sounds really weird dubbed. As a plus though, the music in .hack//sign rocks!!!!

Couldn't you then set the recording timer for Witch Hunter Robin as well?

Oh!!! that brought to mind something. Don't watch the dub on CT. You miss one of the best parts. YOU DON'T SEE THE OPENING SONG!!!

Click here!! is where you can find stuff about WHR and especially the music.

I have seen the first 5 eps of WHR on DVD. I watched them each 5x's mostly so I could hear the songs again. . the opening song so OWNZ!

i agree, the opening song and sequence are very cool; CN has them on their adultswim.com website, go to the videos and you can see all those cut opening sequences, including the inuyasha and FLCL ones

WHR is one of those anime where you just need to buy the boxset.. (O_O);;

especially because the soundtrack only comes with the box; you can't buy it anywhere else and the import costs like fifty clams

I love Witch Hunter Robin, (especially because of Amon, but I won't get into that  )

Unfortunately, it comes on too late for me to be able to watch it often, so I'll have to buy the DVD's. That soundtrack sounds cool anyway.

I watched the entire thing on CN a while ago. I thought it was just ok. With all the hype it got I was waiting for it to get better but I never got what I was looking for. Also I thought the dub (I only watch dubs so I've heard tons of them to compare against) was uncharacteristically bad for such a high profile Bandai title - and I mean that as bad dialog, not nessesarily the voice actors (although I thought Keri Walgreen was the worst as Robin which prob doesn't help much). I guess I was just looking for a lot more character development given the slow pace of the show. It's worth checking out though since it's free to see on CN. I did like the style and music too.

the Japanese seiyuu for Robin was the same one who did Jo from Bakuretsu Tenshi [see my sig] (I forget the seiyuu's name right now). So she had a much better voice in the Japanese dub.

you're right, sometimes the dialog was unnaturally stilted and weird.
