Kino no Tabi

Postby Madeline » Thu May 20, 2004 9:35 am

Sieg pmed me a message recommending the series Kino no Tabi as a clean anime to watch. I've been searching for a while for information on the series, and I've found a few things, but nothing extensive, as well as in my image searches. Does anyone know a good fan site or something to look at?
There is an official site, but it's all in Japanese. I need an English alternative.
:) Thanks!

I've never heard of Kino no Tabi. Do you know if there's an English name for the show, because I've never heard of it?

I can give you the name of some other great, clean anime out there: Last Exile, rated 13 and up because of animated violence and intense (breathtakingly beautiful) aerobatic fight scenes. Haibane Renmai, rated 13 and up, for some blood and a serious story line.

There are actually some great reviews in the Anime Review section here at CAA. If there are any shows you are interested in go there and look it up. They should be in alphabetical order once you get into the actual review menu. If you need help please pm me, Madeline. ^_^ ttyl

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Okay, *bonks head* of course! Kino's Journey is great, it's one of my new favorites; but, it is rated 15 and up. And it's rated that for the reasons of which Aka-chan gave, some deep and mature story lines and some violence and blood. It's very clean otherwise, regarding language and fan service; you won't find any of that.

I checked the site; reviews seem very intriguing. I'll certainly keep a lookout for that series. Concepts of beauty and aesthetics, huh? "The world is not beautiful. And that, in a way, lends it a sort of beauty." Most interesting (and the art looks promising). I've heard the OP song from somewhere - sounded good. How many eps does this have?

Um...I think 16. But I've been looking at Crest of the Stars too, and I might be confused...no that was something like over 31. :P
Sounds great to me! I have some money, but it's from my grandma and she was expecting me to buy some clothes...everyone's been protesting about my colorless clothes. Black is a color! Meep...
Really! :P

So you have seen it? Cool! I'm gonna go and check my pm real quick...maybe you sent me something about it. :) I really want to get a few episodes...does it come in a box set? I hope it's not like twenty bucks for two episodes...but it probably is. :P

I can't remember, is it black or white which is the absence of color (you know, in the scientific sense.)

Yeah, I'm Glad Chloe brought up Last Exile. So there's no nudity or fan service?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Man am I late! I got to watch the first volume of Kino's Journey today (I love Hastings's 99 cent rental promo!). I have yet another anime series I want to buy now. It's cool though, the ADV site said it's only 13 episodes long. So, it should be relatively cheap to buy. I guess I better get to comparison shopping. *starts surfing Amazon*

I saw a couple eps of this on On Demand, but the books episode scared me to death. -_-;;;
"Some people fell in love with characters in the books, and pined away for them" or something to that effect. I thought, oh no, I'm dooooooooooooomed!
Think happy thoughts.
