Studio Ghibli is the best japanese animation film company ever...in the history...of everything!!!

The movies "Spirited Away", "Nausicaa, Valley of the Wind", "Princess Mononoke", "Grave of the Fireflies", "Kiki's Delivery Service", "The Cat Returns", and "Laputa, Castle in the Sky" are all breathtaking and incredible. While the studio has been somewhat of the Japanese Disney, it has surpassed anything I have seen out of America, Japan, or Korea in the last 10 years (excepting of course Kino no Tabi by Genco, which makes me have goosebumps...hehe). Miyazaki is a genius, his stories immerse you in a world of fantasy and intrigue that is rivaled by none. The animation style is unique to say the least, but at the same time beautiful. The faces have a very traditional Japanese drawing style to them, while the bodies are drawn to proportion unlike traditional Japanese drawings. The design quality is stunning, and the way the stories just captivate the imagination amazes me.

Studio Ghibli owns, period.

If you haven't seen any of their productions, i seriously recommend going out and seeing/buying all of them @@!!!!

I've only seen "Spirited Away" by them. Very good, but NoFace freaked the crap out of me. @_@
I did want to see "Castle in the Sky" sometime though.

I PERSONALLY, can't stand Studio Ghibli releases. Altough they are excellent, the stories are well told, the character developments are very involved and their growth is good too. HOWEVER, to me it's the artwork that drives me away.

I really can't stand there character designs. I need some from more aesthetically pleasing. Although they are not ugly by any means, and often times a little more realistic. They are also not, shall we say, pretty. If it wasn't for that one thing I would have a better opinion but, the nature of these things are both the stories and the artwork. Its hard ot enjoy one if you can't enjoy the other.

Its like Psychic Academy. I heard a comment once where a person couldn't enjoy it simply from the amount of fanservice that is in it. Which there is a lot of. However, because of that in the artwork (I'm talking the manga), she could not enjoy the story as much because it wasn't as appealing to her.

I sigh heavily for those who dislike the character design of Studio Ghibli releases. I'm pretty picky about my character designs - for example, I won't read a manga or watch an anime if it's art is dated, or too stylized (extremely pointy chins, crazy huge eyes, and stuff that distracts me from the plotline), or just too comedic (oversized body parts on comical characters). But I think that the characters in movies like Spirited Away, while not exactly being pretty, are likeable and realistic. They are children and animals, mostly- they can't be 'pretty'. Oh well.

And now to tear this up. ACTUALLY, I could be really specific and say I don't like Miyazaki's artowrk in particular for some of the otehr 4 directors that Studio ghibli has under there animeation team I really like. Espeically their team that help work on the Ghost in the Shell stuff.

I'm not really a fan of the style either, except for Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke & The Cat's Return (which were awesome!). I think Ghibli's strong-point is not flashyness in every panel, but consistantly fluid animation. And I can appreciate that.

I'm not really a fan of the style but I really enjoyed Spirited Away and now its one of my favourite movies. It takes getting used to the style but once you have its easier to enjoy. I'll have to try some of the others later.
