I have a question about .hack//sign.
Balmung only makes a quick appearence in one of the episodes correct? (I just wanted to double check.)

And you see a WHOLE lot more of Balmung in .hack//Legend of the Twilight, which is the follow-up TV series.
He appears two or three times in all of .hack//sign .

I've seen Legend of the Twilight, (so yes I have seen Balmung is all his bishieness) but it was a long time ago. Plus it would be cool if the same person reviewed it since you can maybe even compare it to .hack//sign, so I hope you review it!

Balmung is shown in .hack//sign!? O_o...I never knew that~! Does he just pop up in the background, or does he acctually talk as a side character? ^O^ Balmung's awesome~

He pops up in one ep and has a few lines of dialogue ^_^
I think its either ep 20 or 21.

Yeah it's so small you can hardly even call it an "appearence".
And it's sort of wierd cause he looks different then he does in either the video game or .hack//dusk (or twilight whatever). First you sort of see him enter the world from a distance, so that unless you can recognize him (like I can
) you are left going "who is that?" And then a few minutes he shows up and helps the main characters for about... 45 seconds? I think he says like 4 lines in total.

so you can bett with you life, garentee me 100%, cross your heart hope to die, that their is absolutely no nudity except bikinis language, or more sexual content than what is stated in your reveiw, that this anime has nothing that i'd object to?

.hack//sign?! nah, only a lot of talking occurs between people, nothing objectionable. Only Sora is anything near annoyingly objectionable. ^^

.hack//sign is an awesome serious. Thanks for the review Vyse.
I can't say it was helpful personally as I have the whole series, and am an avid .hack fan (liminality, ps2 games, manga, legend of the twilight, soundtracks included.), and as an avid fan I want to say your review was well done!
The thing that hit me most about this series was the music. The music is awesome. Open your heart has a chorus with "Agnus Dei*" (*lamb of God)
Oh and you said something about not knowing about the subbed for language? It has quite a few instances of what is normally translated as cuss words but the subtitles don't translate them into cuss words, and the dub is pretty much devoid of them.
Basically, unless you are really up on your Japanese you won't even know they are there.
Religious stuff: Well it is sorta in there. Its not in a bad way though, some of the song lyrics mention heaven, one hell, and another angels. Plus Open your heart has some of the Agnus Dei. Now that I think about it though, I am not sure how much of each of those songs show up. So the Angnus dei part, which shows up at the end of Open your heart, might not even be in the show.
Sorry that was a long post..

Thanks for the review, Vyse. I have the first two DVD's and it cleared up some things that I was wondering about as to whether I should buy the rest of the series. I do agree that the art and music in this series is exceptional. Good review.

Well...I sorta disagree with the Review, in the religion area. There's homosexuality in it (eventhough platonic, phew...), and has WAVEMASTERS,-aka Magic.
Otherwise It's not that bad in the religion area!

Yeah, there is, towards the end...
Tsukasa ( who's really a girl) and Subaru fall in love. But no kissing, I remember. However, lots of affection, cuddling, hugging, holding hands, etc...
Hmph. Leave it to the Japanese to ruin a perfectly good show.
I take it this is after they meet in the real world.

No. It's in-game, and Tsukasa practically forgot she was a girl because of how long she'd been trapped in the game, playing a male character. And there is no "cuddling." Thier characters hug once, that's it. They may or may not have held hands at some point. When they actually meet, we see Tsukasa smile and look at Subaru. That's it.
