If you haven't seen Last Exile yet, SEE IT!
If you love flying machines, victorian clothing and steam powered rifles you'll love Last Exile.
I've only seen the first disc so far, but I'm hooked.

I know my dad downloaded some episodes, but I don't know if I've seen it. I think I've seen a little bit of it, though I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right anime.

What episode have you gotten to?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I agree it's a great anime. I can't wait until more DVDs are relased here. TechTV will be aquiring the rights to show the rest of the episodes (they already showed 1-13) soon. I'm not sure yet if I'll wait for that or get the remaining DVDs as they come out. I too am addicted to this one!

I have Comcast Digital cable and Tech TV has just started showing Last Exile eps On-Demand, which is great news, IMO..no need to try and figure out when they're showing Last Exile on the regular channel, and no need to either stay up till the wee hours of the morning or set a vcr.

It's on my "to check out" list, that's for sure. The character design alone has me interested.

I caught this show during TechTV's Last Exile marathon a few weeks ago. Great show--so good my dad, who is rather closed to the idea of watching anime, likes it!

it's a great anime! got very good plot and character interaction, not to mention the simply splendid animation and flying battles.
but it's a very serious anime, people who only like comedy should just pass this.. but then they'd be missing out on the good ones. :)

Hey, can anyone give me the 411 on content? I read a review on them and it seemed really clean (in sensual sense). Is that right? It said there was a little gore. Would you "Last Exile" people agree.

If anyone could thrown in like a four sentence synopsis I would smile really big for them. And had braces, so that's one expensive smile.

I've seen the first four eps...and as far as the blood/gore...there's a battle sequence that is relatively bloodless in either ep 1 or 2 In ep 4, there's a vanship pilot who is wounded, mainly trickles of blood. This is PG/PG-13 stuff. No sexual content yet. There may be a smattering of bad language, but it didn't stand out to me. Overall between a PG and soft PG-13 rating if you were to compare it to the movie rating system. But I haven't seen more then the first four eps so far.

Four sentance synopsis, from what I've seen so far:

Two (possibly orphaned) adolescents run a messenger business using
their vanship, which is like a small airplane.

There's a war going on, and most wars in this world are deployed acording to a code of chivalry, but someone's not playing fair.

There's a renegade airship with a mysterious captain that the children become involved with.

The children are asked by a dying vanship pilot to deliver a young girl to the mysterious captian.

Dang. . . I have got to get this show. My parents are rather skeptical about anime. Perhaps I can reel them in. *sets net out and hunkers down for the long haul.*

Last Exile is my absolute favorite series, as some people may have noticed. For those who haven't seen it, but may be intrested, here's the lowdown on the plot.

"The intergalactic world of Prester is made up of two kingdoms, Anatoray and Disith. These kingdoms are separated by a turbulent and dangerous stretch of space known as the "Grand Stream." Because of this, they have little contact with one another. However, when Disith warriors created a giant shield allowing themselves to traverse the Grand Stream and attack Anatory, the two kingdoms were plunged into an eternal state of warfare.

Under the guidance of the mysterious "Guild," the warring kingdoms have always conducted themselves with honor and respect. When Disith decides to break this code of honor, and the Guild does nothing to intervene, the tide of war shifts against the Anatoray kingdom.

The story centers around Claus Valca and Lavie Head, two young Vanship pilots in an Air Courier service in the Norkia Vanship Union. They soon find themselves continuing a mission with a seven star danger rating, transporting a young Guild girl to the rogue battleship, The Silvana (The Invincible Ship, The Unregistered Ship, The Kill 'Em All Silvana), to be placed under the care of Captain Alex Rowe."

And stuff goes down from there. If I said more, I'd be giving spoilers. =3

Yeah, this is a great series. G4/TechTV is replaying it again now, and I'm very glad. The series has a cool steampunk/Jules Verne feel to it.
