Lost anime of yore

I know those of you who have been with us since the msn days must be rolling your eyes right now ... but there's new people to ask!

Anyone remember the Grimm's Fairy Tale anime that used to air on Nickelodeon years ago? It was put out by Nippon Animation I believe.

Another good one - 'Lil Bits. If anyone has ever seen these two series on dvd (or even VHS) - I'm pretty sure I'd use desperate measures to get my paws on them.

My friend and I used to watch those shows every time they came on. (I can still sing the themes songs). We really didn't care for David the Knome as much as the first two, and Miah ... Myah ... Mia ... oh, however it was spelled - the Bee made us gag. I can't even remember if it was even anime or not. I never watched long enough to tell before I switched the channel.

Anyway, who else shares memory of such wonderful, yet non-existent animes?

Well, I used to really like Dunderklumpen (still one of my favourites). Okay, it's Swedish, but it's still animated. Of course, it was a movie and not a TV show so I it might not fit here..

Probably the anime I liked the most growing up was Amazing Three. Most here will not remember it nor I doubt you will ever see it. Sadly most of the prints it seems were lost years ago but it was a great little series.

Yeah, I watched Little Bits, and David the Gnome. The weird thing was, I discovered this book at my grandma's house that was written like an actual "fact" book on gnomes, and I started recognizing all sorts of things from David the Gnome in there, and vice versa. I got kind of tired of that program after awhile. I did like Little Bits, though, but I couldn't tell you where to find it. If I ever do, I'll let you know, Gypsy!

I used to watch a lot of Voltron, and also this program called Tranzor Z, which I always thought was a rip-off of Voltron. We never got any "real" anime on any of our channels (I grew up out in the country with only network channels--no cable, no satellite).

I grew up obsessed with Eureka's Castle, and wishing I had a tail like Magellan. David the Gnome is singly handedly at fault for shaping most of my childhood sleep patterns; the trolls scared me, and I used to believe they had a secret cave on the right side of my bed between the wall. O.o Little bits...was that the show with the brother and sister in the forest? I have vague memories of that, as well as Superbook.

This is a bit off kilter, but did anyone else see Shelly Long's Fairy Tale theater? Boy, that was a classic! I miss watching it...

Man, when I was little I didn't even know I was watching anime. There were so many shows that I loved watching when I was small but I didn't even know it was anime. I remeber there was one about some robots or somthing and some parts would be in 3D. I have no idea what it was called but I'm pretty sure it was anime, but i used to love that. Also does any one remember Samurai Pizza Cats? Man, what I would do to track down some tapes or mabye if they have any DVD's of that show I used to love that show!! And my grandma like bought the whole set of Superbook when I was small for me and my cousins to watch when she took care of us. Man, those were some cool times.

*sigh* I was the same way Ashley, obessed with Eureka's Castle. I think I still have the bathtub toys I had when I was little somewhere :sweat: When mum used to call me she would call me just the way Magellan called Er- how's the spelling on that? I actually watch the Christmas special still, tradition for me I guess. David the Gnome, jeez I couldn't go a day without watching that. I have a memory of thinking there was a hole in the wall under the head of my bed but I haven't the slightest idea where the came from. *shrug* Sorry if I just started to carry on hehe ^_^;

No, that was actually The Pebble And The Penguin, A Don Bluth feature that came out a few years ago.
