On the other hand, the anime shows without fanservice usually turn out to be the greatest stuff on the market. I think fanservice is a symptom of bad plot, and so the studio has to find some other way to get people to buy their stuff. The worst though, is when you have an excellent show with a good plot, and you ruin it with fanservice.

i dont care if an anime has fan service or not, as long as it has a good story/art/characters im fine with it.

I don't like that anime has fanservice(I'm a girlie tho),such as Onegai Teacher.I read the manga but when I went to get the anime it was full of fanservice and it really disapointed me.

NGE = kool
NGE fanservice = stupid
Vamp Hunter-D = kool
Vamp Hunter-D fanservice = stupid (especially one particulaly rediculous scene, people who've seen it will know what I mean)

Yes, I do know what you mean...
I'm no fan of fanservice, but I think everyone would be surprised if I was. Most of the time, however, I can shrug and ignore it.
I've handled your double post, Locke. Not a problem.

I like it ::dodges flames:: Actually I hate it too. It's annoying, unnesscary, and completely redioulous. But to be totally honest, I find some of the more funnier moments in anime tends to be the fan service parts. For instance in NGE where we meet Asuka, I just find that aprt hilarious. Another example is the Outlaw Star episode "Hotsprings on Planet Tenrain". It's not the best episode and loads of fan service. Though I find that one of my more favorite episodes in OS cause I find it very funny (like Gene trying to climb up tyhe mountain or can't or one of the Antei 7 tyring to get to gene but fails everytime.)
I don't think you'd call it fan service but another episode I love in Cowboy bebop is the Two "Jupiter Jazz" episodes cause i love the sotry of Grem and the entire sub plot of those two episodes.
i think fan service can be used to make a situation funny, even though it's unnesscary. So what Im trying to get at is that fanservice can be funny at times but then again it's unnesscary and a bother.
Someone said before (i think Omega), said that sexual stuff isnt the onyl type of fanservie, it also applies to other stuff like fighting scenes. The term fan service applies to anything that will make the fans happy so I dont think it nesscaery applies to a sexual level.

Depending on how one defines fanservice (I mostly think of it in sexual terms)...
I hate it. Bathing scenes, hot springs, clothes miraculously disappearing/ripped off, towels falling off from the waist, "unique angle shots", pantyshots, all have succeeded in discouraging me from watching many anime titles. I happen to be less forgiving, usually excellent plots and fight scenes can't save a certain title from my anti-fanservice wrath.
However, Naruto's Ninja Centerfold and Ninja Harem really made me laugh. I'm not even sure whether those are considered fanservice.

you could proably tell from my previous posts that fan service doesnt bother me much. How come? Cause I will close my eyes or look away. I dont need to see the junk and when I do, I dont let it hinder my liking for the anime. I like to focus on the good of it instead of the bad.

About what CDK said about some anime titles without fanservice being the best out there:
Haibane Renmei has no fanservice... and... well, I think it's the best anime out there! Well, only for those who like heavy drama and don't need action, but, yeah, there's a great title with no fanservice!

I'd say probably, in that it doesn't really need to be there. For me it isn't that annoying, though, and it isn't often that used. I suppose it could actually be humorous...

Yah, I can see what you're saying hitokiri... Sometimes, it's just so blatant and gratuitous that's it can be funny, like it's so lame it's funny. That is, until you think of all the people it has caused to stumble, and suddenly, it's not so funny.

It doesn't bother me a whole lot, though I don't like it either. I will always fast foward through nudity scenes.
What really gets on my nerves is the titles where the subtitles have excessive language. The sooner I finish learning Japanese so I won't have to use the subtitles the better.

I've been thinking of possibly trying that series.
Anyways

I didnt really think about that. Sexual Fan Service is what I find uneesacry and irrelevant. Sure it can be funny like I said but then again, you can can find better ways to make fun of a situation instead of making it perverted.
If I make it into the anime scene, I will guarentee you that thier will be no fan service in my anime

I generally watch anime with my brother, and, being the age he is, he doesn't even like innocent kissing scenes (even if the couple is married), so you can be sure anything remotely fanservicey gets fastforwarded.

Heh. That would be pretty annoying, actually. Throwing the baby out with the bathwater, in my opinion. But ah well, I'm sure if you say "at his age" he's probably young.

Hey, Sexy No Jutsu isn't bad. At all. Fanservice isn't either. I mean. let's face it. Almost all good anime has fanservice.

For the record, I'm one of the least ban happy moderators on these boards. But allow me to state that the wisdom of beginning your membership of this board with such a post is debateable, to say the least.
Now while an argument can be made that fanservice is hardly the end of the world in considering an anime, one cannot argue that it isn't bad "at all." No, Sexy no Jutsu isn't as terrible as some (and we have convenient smoke), but it's still annoying and largely unnecessary.
Yes, most good anime has fanservice, but that doesn't mean there is a connection.
At some point, however, this has to move to people's individual consciences...

I really don't approve of it but if an anime compensates it with a good storyline I can overlook it. Something like Evangelion or Cowboy Bebop come to mind. Although I totally turn away any hentai, that crap is just gross and does anime a bad name as illustrations for perverts.

Well, anime is such a wonderful artform, but it is very body focused, so of course theres the temptation of hentai....also, I believe we shouldn't be talking about NGE, as it's on the Black list in Anime forum. (not the actual name of the topic) Just trying to warn you.

May I say that I feel that Sexy No Jutsu is quite necassary, as it merely adds to the humor of it all. We have to learn to laugh a little if we're going to read manga. If we take everything that seriously, the world becomes a rather dull place, wouldnt you agree?
And besides, Sexy No Jutsu IS sexy.

Actually, I disagree. However, I believe you are correct in saying that it is acceptable to laugh while reading manga. The humor purpose of Sexy no Jutsu is the reason I did not fall heavily on it, and added the phrase stating that it could be considered humorous (I do not personally find it so).

Why, yes. Yes, I do.
It's unfair that I can't have a different opinion than a mod. I'm just having a discussion. Jeez.

U, your allowed to have an opinion that differs, but you should at least be abit gentler in your aproach. A soft word will turn away a harsh blow, you know. You seem to be nice, and this is nothing worth getting banned over. I think you should just drop it, becuase UC has his convictions and he will not let them down. In fact, Neither will I.

You are not arguing with a moderator. You are arguing with CAA's stance on the issue of fanservice. Continual raisal of the issue will result in banning. As was wisely stated by Zarn, it isn't worth getting banned over. And if you're interested in arguing... show me a logical justification of fanservice (via PM... we will gain nothing by clogging this thread).

Since I originally brought up this issue, allow me to have my last say on this.
I mostly found it humorous because the older, more mature ninjas/teachers seemed so strong and powerful at first, but the mere sight of a naked women threw them offguard. It was an ironic type of humor.
Uchiha clan, I assure you that those who didn't think that jutsu was funny, have a healthy sense of humor.
I didn't think Sexy No Jutsu was sexy, but that's just my opinion.
