Is Batman Beyond considered an anime show, just out of curiosity. I've always liked it but I haven't seen it for awhile because I only get local channels :bang: .

I wouldn't really say so -- the animation is more American styled..

The style is reminiscent of anime (then again it is also very similar to Batman: The Animated Series), but it is not anime. As far as I know, it was made in America, therefore it cannot be considered anime (meaning Japanese Animation). That doesn't mean it isn't good; in fact it is one of my favorite cartoons. But it is not anime.

The anwer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! it is not. :mutter:  :eh:

Batman Beyond has such poor quality too. Total lack of effort. Its a mass produced cartoon. shallow story..........(no offense intended. its just my opinion)

What is Anime?

1. usually from Japan.

2. higher quality art

3. deeper storylines with continuity.

4. not usually targeted for 8yr old children.

5. wider demographics

Why I like yams: totally random

1. yams are good

2. yams are healthy

3. yams are pro-democratic i think.........

THE END:angel:

I've barely seen any of Batman beyond, but it doesn't seem half bad to me. It's odd seeing Bruce Wayne old, but we all knew it would happen. He's only human, after all (part of what makes him one of the best superheroes).

But I feel the need to respond to some of this, not in a negative manner. Rather a serene one, actually.

2. When characters go SD quite frequently?

Actually, that's aside from my actual point, I just felt the need to ask the question. What I wanted to say was that in actuality almost all American created cartoons have much greater frames per second rates than anime. This is really more of a style thing, but if we're talking about animation quality, technically...

3. At times, my friend, at times. Looking at both American and Japanese works, I see no true difference: there are some great and some terrible.

4. Have you ever seen the darker side of American cartoons? We have our own fair share of shows targetted to older audiances...

::cough cough:: South Park ::cough cough::

Simpsons and the Family Guy (awesome shows I might add) aren't targeted really towards younger viewers...

Isn't junk like Pokemon targted towards 8 year olds...unless it's different in the Japanese version.

I agree with #1, but not necessarily the others. :) Non-anime animation such as Samurai Jack, Justice League, and Batman The Animated Series is of outstanding quality, both art-wise and story-wise. BTAS in particular is widely regarded as one of the best animated series ever produced. I've seen tons of anime that can't hold a candle to these non-anime animated shows.

Batman Beyond isn't quite as good as these, but I still think its a pretty good series and well worth watching.

ok ok just wondering. By the way, not all anime is higher quality art nor does it always have a deeper storyline ex: FLCL

I agree with 1 and yams.
As was said shows like Samuri Jack can have better animation and a more fluid storyline than an anime.

Batman Beyond is American although I believe that it had some Korean or Japanese animators working on it.

I agree with CrusaderX. It wasn't as good as BTAS but it was a pretty decent show.
They are planning to make a Batman Beyond live-action movie eventually, I believe.

Actually, FLCL is full of symbolism and irony. It has a lot of deep meaning. Then again, I yam a psychopath so I notice strange things.

Obviously people have different takes on what constitutes anime--hence the title of this thread. And as we all know, anime is kinda like the movies of America: you have everything from G-rated animated feel-good Disney movies all the way down to porno and things that shouldn't be shown. It's a huge spectrum, and there's all kinds of spin offs, like documentaries or indy films or whatever. So to be sarcastic and all about what one person uses to judge their standards for anime isn't quite fair to them.

And above all, let's be civil. No need to get rude with anyone.
