Fruit Basket Question.

I read the review for Fruits Basket (P.S. thanks to who ever wrote it!), and I was reading over the sexual content-- mainly the homosexual stuff. It was only given a 1 out of 10, so I assume it's very fuzzy, but could someone helf me to know just how blatant it is? I'm mainly worried about my younger siblings who are always begging to watch my anime. If I buy it, how likely is it that the homosexual undertones will go over their heads (both are under the age of 13). Thanks for any help you guys can offer, and I'm sorry I ask so many questions. :bang:

Never be sorry for asking questions. I haven't seen the anime so I can't really tell you. I love Fruits Basket but I can only afford manga for now ^^; I wish I had something to tell you though :(

It's not very blatant -- mostly innuendo between two of the characters, and one somewhat overtly gay one. Some of the innuendo will doubtlessly zoom right past them, although some of it won't. Fortunately, Ayame isn't that major of a character.

p.s.: the review was written by Gypsy and I'm sure she appreciates the kind word. :)

Ok having seen the series umm... 3 times now I think I guess I'm qualified to answer the question. ;)

First of all there is Ayame. Some people will try to tell you that he is Bisexual but don't believe them because the writer hasn't confirmed it. She did confirm that Ayame and his shopworker girl are lovers. So that sort of shoots the idea that he is gay.

Now the scenes in question usually involve Ayame and Shigure. Probably the worst one is where Kyo finds Ayame sleepig in his room so he gets really mad and asks Ayame why he didn't go to Shigure's room. Ayame replies that if he had Shigure would have kept him up all night long. And Shigure is like "oh not in front of the children" and both of them have sparkly backgrounds. Tohru, Kyo and Yuki are standing there like O_O and the boys are like "sick!" That's how most of the scenes are: Ayame and Shigure saying some that could definately be considered joking, since most of the time they end with "Yeah!" And they pose with their thumbs up or somthing like that. I think they are just proud of their abilitly to act stupid and freak out everyone else. ;)

If you want a greater detail explanation I can go into that. Really I think the scenes are suppose to be funny. Not "reveal their true feelings for each other!!!!!111" like all the dumb fangirls will try to tell you.

Thanks a million! I like the premise of Fruit Basket, the Synopsis, and the beginning of the first manga (which is all I got to read :stressed: ) so I'll probably buy a volume today. Thanks for the info!

Glad to help! :) It's my favorite anime ever so I may be a little biased but I think you'll love it. And you'll find the anime follows the manga pretty closely, especially at the beginning.

Anytime anyone has a question about one of the reviews, please feel very free to ask. If you can't find the thread in the Anime Reviews section, then just go ahead and start a new one.

I'm sorry if my review wasn't clear enough, but MyrrhLynn seemed to have cleared up any question.
