ROBOTECH ROCKS!!! Also, if you want higher quality, just watch the newly Remastered DVDs.

Eh, I don't know. The "Remastered DVDs" are certainly more vivid-looking but they're so high-contrast that they wash more subtle details out trying to clean up the image. AnimEigo seems to be doing a better job with their Macross restoration, but that's Macross, not Robotech.

Anyway, yes, Robotech is one of the classics. I remember it as a kid, although I watched a lot more Voltron than I ever did Robotech. Now if only Voltron would come out on DVD! :thumb:

I agree -- the idea sounded really good and I always thought that the transfer on the original DVD set(s) was really crufty, so when I heard about the Remastered series, I thought I'd pick it up ... until I saw it in the local Suncoast on the TVs. While the original transfer was muddy, the remastered versions just wash everything out, and only the colour seems improved. I think what they did was try to clean up their original transfer rather than make a new one, and the corners cut show (if this really *is* a new transfer, which I don't know for sure, they definitely did a poor job).
