Specifically, the girls from Galaxy Angel and Kiddy Grade.
These are two new series being released in the US in March, Galaxy Angel from Bandai and Kiddy Grade from Funimation. Both look very promising, though in different ways. Galaxy Angel looks very cute and funny, while Kiddy Grade looks like it has very solid animation with a more action-packed, dramatic storyline. The characters in both series look interesting and unique.
Has anyone seen either of these series? Planning on buying them? Or interested in finding out more?
I'm definitely going to buy at least one of the series if it looks good, and may even buy the first volume of both. I have been aware of both these series in Japan for some time now and have been eagerly anticipating the release of both in the US.

i've watched the first season Galaxy Angel. a word to the wise: there is no real storyline and it's really very senseless - a definite no-brainer. but i loved it all the same, much to my amazement. it's the only anime i ever remember that could make me laugh so hard during every episode...nothing has ever had that effect on me (i never knew i could like something that Broccoli Studio did). ^^;; the character development was very nicely done, i'll have to say. but like i said, there is no solid storyline. everything's just for cuteness and hilarity even at the risk of making it very unbelievable....very typical of Broccoli.
//waves flag// Forte's my favorite character. XD
just a sideline, since the title's called "Girls in Space"....has anyone else noticed that space-opera-oriented anime have an unusual tendency to distinctly have more girl characters than boy characters and that the ratio between them gets to be very lopsided sometimes? XD

I heard about Kiddy Grade, but as I saw more about it it seemed fanservicey in the artwork that I saw. . . . I thought the story sounded good though and wanted to see it.

We just bought the Galaxy Angel box set and I'd agree with Swordskill. It made me laugh on every episode. It's zany, and oh so cute. We preferred watching it in Japanese, because Mint's voice didn't really match the way she looked in dubbed, so that's something to consider if you buy it, Spiritsword. The box set was a great deal also, because you get five little figures, pencil boards and a menu, that wasn't great, but the little action figures were cute. We found it at Best Buy.
Kiddy Grade, I've had for awhile and still haven't watched it. This was a title I was looking forward to because I've heard lots of good things about it. I just haven't made the time to watch it. I'll let you know once I do sit down and watch it. I know we have very similar anime tastes. ^_^

Thanks for the review of Galaxy Angel, Chloe! I read an article about it in NTUSA, and they make it sounds like the plot gets a little deeper in later volumes. But cute and funny in and of itself is good enough for me to at least try the first volume. I thought about buying the special edition, too, but I realized I could either buy the special edition of GA or the regular versions of GA and Kiddy Grade for a similar price, so I'm going for the two DVD's. I'm eager to hear what you think of Kiddy Grade!

I've not really read a review yet that has lead me to want to purchase Kiddy Grade. However, I did read several that sent me out to get Galaxy Angel. I have to agree with the others. This is a very funny title. I look forward to the remaining volumes.
