Has anyone seen Nana? I've seen the two live action movies which I liked. I'd like to watch the anime, but I have yet to find a sufficient review of the show's content. I've heard rumors of yuri content and or innuendos as well as sexual references and the like. I'd like to know if any of you have seen it, what did you think and how was the content?

I watched a little bit when it was On Demand at my home, but couldn't really get into it. Shojo/Josei aren't usaully my cup of tea except for a few exceptions.

Here is a review outlining possible content issues.

I can address the yuri issue- there is none. Some people take the deep relationship the two girls have as being homosexual in nature- it's not. It's just really deep friendship.
One of the girls has a boyfriend who cheats on her. This same girl also has a history of mistaking like for love, and gets used pretty often. Sex isn't really shown in the show, but it's definitely implied- for multiple characters. And yes, she gets pregnant out of wedlock (the manga shows she gets married, but the anime cuts off before that, I believe).
Honestly, I love the show, but because a lot of the drama centers around relationships that do involve sex and the things that go along with that, it's not for everybody.

Ah, my main worry was that there was going to be explicit yuri. I can't stand either yuri or yaoi no matter how great the story is. It just makes my skin crawl. I do however love hard hitting stories about real life situations and or possible happenings, which is why Nana interested me. The sex, drugs and stuff like that doesn't bother me. That's just a part of life and people's decisions. I'm glad to hear that it's just a close relationship between the two. I know the live action movies portrayed it as a sweet close friendship, and it sounds like the anime does too for which I am glad. I love the bond the two girls share.

Thank you all so much for your help. I shall indeed look into the series more.

I have a number of anime that I rate as 10s. However, when people ask me what my "favorite anime" is, I tell them Nana.

I've watched the show twice. The second time I was just doing some quality checking and got sucked in. It still repeatedly brought me to tears the second time.

I hear that the dub is good for this one, but I haven't heard it.

Nana deals with some pretty adult topics, but then, it's aimed at young women (josei). Still, it's got a pretty good story about friendship, love, and pursuing your dreams. Add rock'n'roll, & it's full of win :D I mean, if you can handle stuff like the romantic comedies/friends-in-the-city stuff they show on TV, Nana's kind of along the same lines.
