Let's Watch: The Galaxy Railways

Postby rocklobster » Mon Nov 29, 2010 1:24 pm

I've decided to do another Let's Watch. This time our title is The Galaxy Railways, created by anime legend Leiji Matsumoto. Matsumoto also created many fan-favorite anime titles, including Galaxy Express 999, Space Battleship Yamato (aka Star Blazers) and Captain Harlock. This story takes place within the same "universe" as the other titles I've mentioned and focuses on the Space Defense Force (SDF), a team of space policemen who protect the Galaxy Railways, a locomotive system in outer space (just roll with it).
I'm a big fan of Matsumoto, and I thought this would be a great way to get more people interested in his stuff. He's a real pioneer in anime and I really think more people should watch his stuff. We'll start Friday.

I am down.

Also, a huge fan, though I have yet to see Galaxy Express (or Railways).

How many eps per day/week will we do?

*EDIT Er I would be down, if Funimation had all the episodes. They have taken down all but the first four.

They have? Well, then, let's skip this idea. I only do it if all are available. Thanks. Forget I said anything. No let's watch.

I watched it about a year ago. The movie was good but a little dull and extremely slow in places. I don't need crazy fast action to stay interested in something but this was a little slow, even in that respect. Interesting animation and story though. It seemed to include a weird combination of Eastern religion (obviously) and Christianity.

W4J, I think you're thinking of Night on the Galactic Railroad- Galaxy Railways isn't a movie.

Oops. Thanks, Atria, you're absolutely correct. I'm thinking of a contemplative dream-like movie with anamorphic cats (which is very different to the one mentioned above).
