I've seen it, and it's okay, but near the end it seems kinda more like a love story than a hamster-ish anime. Anyone here know besides me that Hamtaro is Japanese for hamster? Or atleast, I'm pretty sure it is...

YES! I'm probably one of the biggest Hamtaro fans here on the boards! (If not
the biggest.
) But I've got a reason for it: I have yet to find anything wrong with it; it is just so cute and I would recommend it for good wholesome family viewing in an instant. ^__^
...Sorry, I didn't mean to make that sound like a review. ^_^;
(Incidentally, I started a thread about this long ago; but due to circumstances I think I'd rather abandon it in favor of this one.)

I can't really decide which my favorite hamster is. I like Hamtaro for his naivety, Oxnard for his over-shyness, Boss for his gruffness and sensitivity, and I can't get over how everyone understands Penelope even though all she ever says is "Ookwee!"
For the humans, I'd say Forrest Haruna and Philip Yoshi take the cake for the two funniest guys on the show. Both are goofy and yet dependable where it really matters.
Does anybody know whether there's a third season being made? Laura and her friends should all be going into junior high; that should be interesting. ^_^

Yes I agree with the others, it's great for any age. It just depends on whether it holds your interest or not. I personally don't really like it, but that's just me. It's a cute show though.

When I first saw it on TV, the first thing I thought was "This looks like it's for little kids", but there was nothing else on at the time so I figured I would check it out just for curiosity's sake. I actually found it quite humorous and really enjoyed myself; now it ranks as quite possibly my favorite cartoon of all time, anime or not.
It's like my mom said once: One can never be too old to enjoy a good cartoon. She'll watch it with me if she happens to be around, and she sometimes gets a kick out of it too--like Boss' exclamation about Brandy's new scarf yesterday...
"He likes it! Hey, Brandy!"
She thought that was just hilarious!
(Ask me if you don't get it. ^_~ )

MelodyMaker, please explain. ;P I've watched Hamtaro occasionally too, and I rather like it. Never got into it enough to figure out the overarching plot or anything, but it's pretty good. Did anyone else notice that the voice actress for Hamtaro's owner (whose name I forget) is also the lady who voices Kagome from Inuyasha?

(Brace yourself, good sir Grammarian; I have a response for every part of your post. ^_~ )
The Grammarian wrote:MelodyMaker, please explain. ]Does anyone remember that old Life cereal commercial? If memory serves me correctly, some little boys at the breakfast table are daring each other to give it a try (since none of them have had it before) and one of them says somewhat mockingly, "Give it to Mikey, he'll eat anything." So they give a bowl to little Mikey who never says anything through the whole ad, and he starts eating and enjoys it. Surprised, the same kid that suggested giving him the cereal exclaims, "He likes it! Hey, Mikey!"
So now you know: That's where Boss' exclamation comes from. ^_^

I've never seen InuYasha, but it wouldn't surprise me if Laura and Kagome were played by the same voice actress; both shows are produced by ShoPro Entertainment.
Whew... there, I've said my piece.

Kagome's voice is the reason why I stopped watching American televised InuYasha. Well, I haven't seen the sub yet, but... if I get to someday, I'll take that over the dub. (And... I'm someone who generally LIKES dubs. I'm a anti anti-dub person).
Anyway, back on topic... I catch an episode of Hamtaro on occasion. I find it very charming. I can see why a great many adult and teen anime fans find it obnoxious, but I personally like it. The characters are very cute and their cheerfulness is just plain fun. They all dream big and have such a happy outlook on life... which makes it for good, lighthearted viewing. Considering my generally depressed attitude... I probably should watch more Hamtaro ^_^.
Hamtaro?!?!?
